Today was the first time that i had a kinda rough experience out shopping.

i had to actually queue (be it for all of 5 mins) however, the bit that did catch me by surprise is they would not allow my partner and I to go in together.

this i kinda get, limits the number of people etc but a few things stuck out at me.

they were not counting at all, was literally just letting the heard through once we all queued.
they were not encouraging the use of hand sanitizer at all.
they weren't enforcing this broadly (seemed to possibly be they had changed shifts or something)

Felt sorry for a few of the older folk restocking shelves. a few said they were starting to think about going into isolation due to their age.

the one thing i struggled to get was Soup (i love Cup of soups when i'm working) and grey of all things...

Wife and I ran a half marathon yesterday on a 4km stretch of road outside our house. It was my wife's first half, we were both training for the round the vines event in Martinborough, but of course it got canceled. She didn't want to waste all the training so we did it locally. Bit wet, very windy and definitely not flat, but we did it.

Will do my first post-lockdown shop on Tuesday when I have to go out to pick up a prescription anyway. Don't need much, fresh bread and milk as well as some fruit mainly. The house is pretty well stocked with dried and tinned food, UHT milk, and the freezers are pretty full.

It surprises me the number of people who have even needed to panic buy in Wellington. After the earthquakes we, and pretty much everyone else we know, keep a 2-3 week stock of non-perishable food at all times, and we could probably stretch it to 4 weeks without shopping if we had to - we wouldn't starve although the meal options would be getting truly terrible by then. I would be pretty much down to spuds, pasta, rice and tinned corned beef by then.

The one thing I do need is yeast. Ours hasn't expired, but we we tried to make a loaf it was pretty clear it wasn't working either. So I had to sacrifice a bottle of my precious, precious beer to make beer bread. Oh the inhumanity.......sob.

The main challenge is working from home. It hasn't been an issue before. But with daycare closed and a very energetic wee fella on our hands it's proving a real struggle. We have to "tag on and tag off" with one working and the other supervising him at any given time. So I'm working some very non-standard hours to get things done.

Are they still allowing people to bring in their own shopping bags into the store?. I would have thought that is bringing something in that potentially could be infected and these go into trolley and onto the stainless steel packing areas or conveyors. I would have thought them providing single use plastic bags would be more hygienic in this emergency situation, that people can then then dispose of once they are home. I haven't seen any discussion of this, or maybe they hadn't thought about it. They have already said that people should wipe down all food packing from the supermarket with disinfectant.

I liked my shopping experience when I went the other day, Queue was around 5 mins and supermarket was nice and quiet inside. They should make this the norm in supermarkets 😀

It's not on their site nor what they play over the instore radio, but if that's been in the briefings, I've missed taking note of it which would make it my mistake...It's been a long week!

please don't do that, there very little reason for you to do that (there may be a legitimate reason but most situations someone could get the groceries for you if you are higher risk), and it just doubles your "bubbles" chance of exposure, and also doubles your "bubbles" chance of passing on anything you might have to others.

One person do the shopping per house hold, its not hard to understand and follow.

I should do something similar for any upcoming cancelled events like Xterra and Tough Guy. Not sure I could get away with doing 200km of "Special Stages" to make up for the rally though. :-p

Thanks for making social distancing more difficult and making everyone else's shopping harder. All just because you want some "entertainment". Shopping at supermarket is for essentials. If you want to socialise/go out for a break, just socialise at home or go for a walk.

I'm kinda screwed then, my wife and I have to shop together, my autistic son mostly eats crackers, and unfortunately 2 boxes won't stretch out to him for a fortnight. Plus we buy a lot, it would be far too much for one person to manage on their own. I'll have to think of something then.
