Do you HAVE to shop together though?

you could go more often? one of you go just before close when its less busy so you can be in and out quickly.

Can someone you know in the area buy some for you when they go ?

Can you take some kind of document to show the staff you have a genuine need?

No, and no, sadly. However my wife came up with an idea - she would do half the shop while I would watch the boys, and I would do the other half while she watches them. So that's probably the best option/workaround for now, I think. Saves both of us going at once as well.

My exercise today comprised of a half marathon completed in the cul de sac I live in. 680m will complete a lap so it took just over 32 laps and 2 hours 20 minutes to complete. The best thing was the aid station I had set up outside my gate with my water, lollies and banana hahaha. It was certainly a mental challenge to stay focused the entire time but a run that was much needed.

A family member reported she was unable to enter karori mall with her 7 year old. Security told her to park her child at the entrance and go shop.

That was unacceptable so she left.

She's on her own so she couldn't go shopping without her child.
Asking a parent to park a child at the entrance seems a poor option. So you should put your child into the care of a complete stranger with unknown skills and background for every customer to walk past and cough?

That's a fail.

Rolleston - both New World and Countdown - 6pm Sunday. Both near empty, no queues to get in, no queues at checkout. Everything was on the shelf - even milk powder. Despite Countdown's hard line of 2 similar items the only comment I got when I plonked 24 tins of identical cat food on the checkout was a cheery "Fussy cat?" from a friendly and upbeat checkout attendant who then scanned them through with no issue.

Most people seemed practical about the 2m thing... It's impossible to maintain but I did note that when people had to pass in an aisle, it was brisk and no-one ever stopped beside someone else.

It was more pleasant than most trips to the supermarket to be honest.

Thanks for making social distancing more difficult and making everyone else's shopping harder. All just because you want some "entertainment". Shopping at supermarket is for essentials. If you want to socialise/go out for a break, just socialise at home or go for a walk.

it's not entertainment and whos socialising , i cant go by myself as nearly deaf so cant understand people and my wife cant pick up items because of her arthritis so it needs to be a 2 man job, so i usually get things online but that is impossible lately.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Not only that, but that stranger wouldn't be in their bubble either,. I do wonder how solo parents would handle it if they have young children, and can't leave them at home. Common sense needs to be followed IMO

I'm pretty sure the government has said that it is okay to bring your kid with you supermarket shopping if you're their primary guardian, and it's not possible to leave them at home.

I would have thought that is bringing something in that potentially could be infected and these go into trolley and onto the stainless steel packing areas or conveyors. I would have thought them providing single use plastic bags would be more hygienic in this emergency situation, that people can then then dispose of once they are home. I haven't seen any discussion of this, or maybe they hadn't thought about it. They have already said that people should wipe down all food packing from the supermarket with disinfectant.

I think I mentioned this on my shopping post. Took my own bags in but told I can't use them, but I can load from trolley into them in the New World foyer or outside. Next time Ill load into my bags at the car.

I shopped at Pak 'n Save on the North Shore's Wairau Road at 8:30am Saturday.

There was no line outside, I walked right in. Trolleys were being disinfected and I was offered a new disinfected one, then had hand sanitizer given to me and told the rules.

I was able to get everything I wanted, nothing was out of stock that I could see. The only thing I noticed as being limited were sacks of flour. Plenty of milk, bread, meat, etc.

When I got to the checkout there was another staff member to explain how checking out was to work. Stand at end of the conveyor belt and load everything on to it. Checkout operator would then pack my stuff into a second trolley and only when she was finished was I to approach her and pay. Large perspex shields were separating the checkouts. No packing of bags was allowed inside the supermarket (eg weren't allowed to use that packing bench they have) so had to pack when I got back to my car. Everything ran very smoothly and efficiently.

People were for the most part keeping 2m away from each other and following all the rules.

It was the most pleasant grocery shopping trip I've ever had! 😀

I went to Countdown in Lynmall yesterday at about 2.30pm. Only 1 person in queue ahead of me, but we were both let in at the same time about 1 minute later. I had placed an online order last week Monday and earliest collection date was yesterday. Naturally during the week we built up list of items we still needed, so I went instore first to do the top up shop.

Had to grab own trolley from trolley bay, so unsure if handle was wiped down. I had gloves on anyway.

Fairly quiet in supermarket. Well stocked except no flour on shelves. This was also in my online order, but wasn't fulfilled as "out of stock".

If 2 or more people wanted the same item, then orderly queue/spacing until first person moved on before next person moved in for that item.

After my instore shop, it took about 10 minutes though before I could collect my online order. 1 person ahead of me getting theirs, so had to wait until they got their order. They had trouble locating one of the bags from my order so that took a while. But hey, I was in no rush.

If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.
