So while exercising, my shorts have a nice internal little pocket right on the hip so I can slide a phone into it, and it stays stationary (ie doesn't bounce around with running etc) and is unobtrusive. However my wife is struggling to find something that works for her (to carry her phone) - it seems womens exercise gear doesn't come with something similar (often no pockets except for a rear one which will hold a key but not much more).

What options are there out there? She can wear a bag, but its a bit cumbersome and dominating. I know there are the arm band pouch things too. Do people have any experience and/or recommendations on what they have used?

fwiw - she has an iPhone7, so needs to fit with that.

On the rare occasion I run with my phone, I use one of these (https://spibelt.com/

I would recommend it. If it's raining, I just put my phone in a ziplock bag before putting it in the belt. I bought one to fit my iphone 7 and it still fits my 8+ which surprised me.

I use a cheap armband. Used one from amazon for a while, then trademe, now just a $7 one from kmart. I've tried a couple of the running belts, recently one given out at the ASB marathon, but never really liked them. Even the slight bouncing when they're tight annoys me.

The armbands tend to degrade over time, especially the cheaper ones, but at $7 I just replace as needed.  My phone is waterproof so I don't worry too much about it getting wet. I find headphones with a button on them are a must because trying to use the phone through the clear window is a pain, even more so when it's on my arm - I dislike wearing on my forearm so it's always on my bicep.

I have a few of these. They work really well... Quite good for slipping under your clothes while travelling as well.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.
