I am moving to a sit / stand electric desk at work for the positive health benefits. I won't be standing all the time, but when I do I need a good floor mat as the floor is bare concrete.

There are a few reviews on-line, e.g. http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-standing-desk-mat/ but are there any good floor mats available in locally in NZ? Any good / bad experiences?

I found they were a PITA, as they get in the way of your chair when you're sitting, so you have to keep moving them around, or rolling your chair over them.

I found myself a pair of decent work shoes with very comfy spongey soles, so my floor mat goes with me wherever I walk.

ETA - Office max has a range of mats, including some jigsaw ones so you can construct it to the size you require.

I wear a good pair of boots in winter. In summer I work barefoot on a rolled up yoga mat. The great thing about the yoga mat is I also use it for stretching and exercising during the day.

I use one of these and find it great. I just push it forward under my desk when needing to sit (about 2 hours a week)

Thanks for the recommendations. I ordered one of the Officemax options, because we have an account there and it seemed the most simple way. However, I do like the concept of the Topo mat, so I might get one of those to try too.

That looks amazing. Expensive rubber, but they have thought out their product pretty good I think.

I am no expert, but it seems to me like static sitting and standing is the worst for your body, so having something to stand on that allows for many different positions is good.
