wellygary:Go inside and tell the Librarians, they are usually up for fights like this.... :)
alasta:Is this based on whether the charger is in use, or whether the space in front of the charger is occupied? If it's the former then there's a very high probability that you'll turn up and find a nuisance vehicle obstructing the charger.

mattwnz: Maybe they will have cameras on the charging stations, and fine non EVs parking in those spots eventually. If these are pay chargers it will be affecting their revenue.
It costs 25c per minute for an EV to plug into those chargers. ICE should be charged at the same rate. Fair is fair.
Send them a bill in the mail. hand it off to Bay-corp. People will soon learn it isn't worth the trouble.
Actually for me, the bigger question for the Waitohi/Johnsonville Library is, why in a carpark that has approx 20 total spaces available, including 3 three disability parks (one of which we use when there with my wheelcair-bound granddaughter) - so say 17 general spaces - it was deemed a good idea to use 25% of these for EV charging?
They were not EV parks when Waitohi originally opened in Dec 2019 and still were not when Google street view last passed by in Sep 2020. It's no wonder people are parking non-EV vehicles there.

Does the library or council get paid to lease them out as charging stations?
freitasm:
I wonder how much of this goes on all the time around the country and how will it impact EV adoption. Just now, behind Johnsonville library - three of four EV charging spaces are taken by non-EV.
Will we need enforcement through fines at some point?
Regarding the ordinal post, apparently the EV only signposting is yet to be installed. (and the large logo on the ground is not sufficient to base enforcement off). Apparently the signs & enforcement are coming soon.
