Kinda not, they made the Fisker Karma a decade ago (but went bust, very long story) , Fisker was connected with tesla before that? Just a design house really they have no factory etc.

Linuxluver: LDV is soon launching NZ's first EV ute.

The T60. It's RWD and has a decent battery pack...over 80kWh. This will scratch a lot of itches. They say they are trying to keep the price under $80k to qualify for the incentive. Spending $0 on fuel from day one.

And Stuff has a write-up on the ute based on a test-drive of the test vehicle they have in NZ:

Ouch Rivian just hiked prices ~20% across the board

"Effective immediately, The Rivian R1T's price is increasing "approximately 17%" which will increase the base cost from $67,500 to approximately $78,975. The R1S will see a whopping price increase of "approximately 20%" bringing the new base price from $70,000 to about $84,000. Additionally, the cost of certain options, upgrades, and accessories has also increased."

Heading easily to 200k NZD for the higher spec ones now

Wow.

Rule of thumb is to double USA (USD before sales tax) vehicle prices to get the NZ (gst inclusive price).

So I would pick a $158k base price for the R1T (the Ute) and a $168k base price for the Riveran R1S (the suv) in NZ. With top spec well north of $200k.

Fine for competing with full size Range Rovers (MSRP $221,900), Ram 1500 ($105k to $180k), Merc G class ($217k to $295k), but not really a competitor for Hilux's & Rangers. The spec sheet is absolutely good enough to compete with the cars I just listed.

NZ Tesla Model 3s just went up about $2500 too.

In other news, I picked up Zippy this morning.

Is the the normal front bumper, or have you put a lip on it? (Maybe it’s just the angle of the photo).

I guess the price rise was inevitable with where the South Pacific Peso sits at the moment. In fact a red M3 with white interior and sport wheels is getting dangerously close to the magic $80K.

Normal bumper, yeah. Sun was right behind me so the contrast shows up.

is the EQB coming to NZ?

of all the EVs, the only different one seems to be the EQB. loads of boot space which also happen to have 2 more seats.

hopefully the next one will be lighter and have more range that would evolve into the perfect eSUV

Looks like the 51kWh batteries will be LFP though -

“The decision has been made to focus on the 51kWh lithium iron phosphate-equipped new ZS EV for the Australian and New Zealand markets, because it offers the right combination of range, battery stability and life, recharging time and value for our customers.”
