yeah I am confused , id you drive an S or a 3, are you looking at buying the S or the 3? Because that is a mix and match list
S has adjustable headrest afik and a traditional instrument cluster dash
My comments were general about Telsa vehicles. Sorry, I should have been clearer. The S is more the car I'd buy through the 3 is certainly more affordable.
Other things like having to use the touchscreen to adjust mirrors, WHY!? That is something the S certainly does better. Yes instrument cluster is present and pretty good on the S for sure.
I dunno, it just feels like a first-gen product in many ways, by people who developed a car having never driven one....

Seriously why not? I do it once when I get the car, save to my profile and forget about it for the entire time I then own the car.
And you actually use the steering wheel dials to do the adjustment ....

no idea what you mean. no you cant move the headrest I dont find it an issue may depend on your build/height
The OP means that for older kids in front facing car seats, the top of the car seat ends up resting on the headrest, but the seat should be hard against the back of the regular seat, but it can't because its wedged out by the headrest,
It also means that tether straps have to go round the headrest too
ah never had to deal with any of that assume its really only an issue in the front seat?

I don't think they're first gen issues at all, they're just design choices that you don't agree with. They're not going to be reverting back to having dedicated buttons and dials for the mirrors for instance, especially when they're things you rarely adjust. You're also not going to see an instrument cluster or HUD on future Tesla vehicles - the 3, Y and Cybertruck have all done away with these.

Honestly I dont even know why there are seat controls, why is that not on the screen too. (and why cant I apply a seat profile to the passenger seat)
I think you need to view the current Tesla models, in particular the 3 and Y, as steps along the path to fully autonomous vehicles. For that reason we are being weaned off physical controls, the last of which to go will be the steering wheel. Similarly for info displays.
Its not without precedent. In the 1960s the early American spacecraft were designed without controls or instrumentation for the astronauts. That was quickly changed after a revolt amongst the ‘stick and rudder’ test pilots that formed the core of the initial NASA astronauts. Lucky they did because the autonomous control systems at that time had too high a failure rate.
While a simple GPS hud would provide a speed readout reflected off the windscreen (for M3 and MY) I do think it would be better if there was an oem version available the incorporated additional information such as speed sign recognition, navigation instructions and proximity of other vehicles, all focused at infinity. Many of their competitors in the same price bracket (and some cheaper) have this as an option if not standard. Even if Tesla allowed (or better endorsed) a third party accessory company to produce an aftermarket hud that could display data from car’s system I’m confident they would find a market.

My X came with Towing kit which can hook up officially. I realised by google today that S does not support towing!! that's very interesting as they are identical battery packs / motors etc.. and unsure why? If any X is heavier with those wing doors.
Noticed a bunch of Model S 2nd hands are on sale on TM for about 80k or even 70k mark. Pretty good value in my opinion for a S even though a year or two older than the 3.
Heavier isnt bad for towing anyhow. I know some people have fitted a tow bar to the S but not sure if the rear assembly is the same as the X?
In some markets in the world a car needs to be tow rated before its sold (i.e. model 3 in europe)

Nope. They are NZ New and 2017 and 2018 year model S priced between 65k and 85k.
There is a 2019 as well but it's around 100k mark.
at least 2 of the cheaper ones I checked were imported. Just IMO be careful of those they may lack updates, support or even supercharging/fast charging

I am confident they are sold in NZ New by Tesla - (Carjam).
Imports do not have Type 2 chargers in them. Those imports you are talking are sold by dealers. I would really stay away from them.
