arnies:I'm looking at the Y (order is in, still deciding to go through with it) but curious if the full-send into the future with no buttons etc will piss me off. Skoda (and others) offer an easier transition to the EV world. The Y has amazing space inside the cabin and boot though which is appealing.
TBH, most of the time I prefer the minimalist controls of the Tesla, and it didn’t take long to for it to feel ‘normal’. During the weekend I drove my wife’s car (a Leaf) for the first time in many weeks, and it was just weird having to turn the car on/off, release/set the parking brake etc. Did not enjoy it at all! Tesla have also added changes that have helped, eg the latest key firmware release introduced a shortcut feature where a button on the steering wheel can be used to do one of a range of actions (I’ve got it set to defrost the windscreen).
Can totally back up the spaciousness of the Y - we were worried about a lack of space travelling without a roof box (something we’d always use when on holiday with our previous car) but I’ve never found it lacking the ability to take all our stuff. (Well, I’ve occasionally found I’ve run out of space to fit our luggage and then realised I’d forgotten to use the under-floor storage in the rear!) I sat in the back in the weekend and it reminded me how much space there is for rear passengers; I think it’s similarly roomy (if not more leg room?) in the Enyaq though.
