... and in the same vein are these new 2CV-based vans being produced in the UK. I can see these being bought by a few w@nky retailers for home deliveries around town, but other than Citroen obsessives imagine there's not a huge market for something that slow, small and low range!
SaltyNZ:
According to Schneiderman, the replacement cost of the cable was US$2,700, or roughly $4,400.
Apparently his cable wasn't made of the traditional 'copper' but rather solid platinum.
Monster cable maybe? Delivers electrons in a more pure way than others can 🤣

Especially not at £40K
kingdragonfly: I know everyone's joking about platinum cables, because of these price.
The most conductive metals are silver, copper, gold, zinc, nickel, platinum, in that order. (Unless that Korea room temperature super-conductor is actually a thing.)
Silver plated wire is used in many electronic and cable applications where signal stability is a concern.
It appears that the price was inflated because he gave the cost of replacing the entire charging box, (presumably with a new cable that has one end permanently fixed - or at least not easy to remove)
As for the Superconductor , the chatter seems to heavily indicate that its most likely a diamagnetic semiconductor, rather than a superconductor, - they both apparently float in magnetic fields

This is a US view about it's sometimes cheaper to fill up an ICE than charge an EV but of course over there petrol is usually cheaper than here and it's not easy to convert the range estimate/cost to the actual price of electricity.
A quick check of PGE rates for EV's shows this summer rate table. That is a lot more than I pay on Genesis which is 14c (or about US7c) per kWh from 9am to 7am.

That is cool, I like it. If I owned a French Bakery (my wife would love to own a French bakery) it would be great for brand image. Could be good for a vine yard or wine shop.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
My wife drove a BYD Atto last week and loved it. She thinks we should get one as a secondary vehicle. I mentioned to her the apparent fire risk with this brand but she still loves the idea.

Wait, I thought that BYD were using the LFP batteries, or is that only on certain battery capacities?

A quick Google search will reveal the unfolding issue with BYD vehicles spontaneously combusting.
With many of those reports linking back to serpentza's YouTube presentations. His bad relationship with the CCP is more the basis for these stories than any real evidence with the EVs he is calling out being misidentified for starters.

jonathan18: I called into my local MG dealer yesterday, and they were saying they haven’t received the final specs and pricing, and think that the distributors are sounding out the market before confirming these. Could still come out with the smaller battery at a price below $50k. Same point made here:

I had a chance to look over an MG4 yesterday. Not test drive yet as those were all booked up. I will try to do that over the next few weeks.
First impressions was that it was pretty basic. But then what else do you need? The screens seemed clear and the seating was comfortable although it had no lumbar support. Looked quite nice in the orange colour. It’s a shame you have to go up in trim level to get BSM and a 360 camera but I think the standard range version would make a good urban family runabout.
