SaltyNZ: Like Mercury Energy did with the Falcon?
By making this Ford Falcon "Evie" conversion overly complex, Mercury Energy may be deterring EV conversions.
Why did they choose / keep the automatic transmission in the Falcon conversion?
It seems bizarre since the designer mentioned he had to "idle" the electric engine, which I guess means keep it rotating when fully braked.
A manual transmission would have have made more sense, which is what EVWest in the States does. Basically keep it one gear constantly, from 0 KPH to highway speed
The clutch can be ignored most of the time, unless you want more/less performance.

Also the bus electric engine and designing your own AC controller and writing your own software seems silly, when there's plenty of already ready to go performance options.
Still if Mercury wants to sponsor an local EV conversion company, why not?
