I've been thinking about buying a Nissan Leaf for my around town driving (95% of it).

This morning, I checked the Nissan web site ...and found it appeared to be down completely.

When it came back toward mid-day, the Nissan Leaf was nowhere to be found.

It's gone.

Googling "Nissan LEAF NZ" gets me the nissan.co.nz weblink for the LEAF.....but it now 404's.

OK.....I can get an imported LEAF from an importer.....but I was looking for the brand new real, local deal. :-(

I have one of those heavy duty extension leads in my boot with my 8amp EVSE just in case... I used it when I got stuck down in Queenstown, I checked up on it regularly and it only got slightly warm to the touch

gzt: Random question. Are the leaf granny chargers ok for outside use?

Depends on the IP rating of it.

Personally, I would be wanting to put the control box a bit under something to protect it from the weather

I was originally planning to get a weatherproof utility box fitted to the side of my house to hold my 16amp charger, but as often happens, my "temporary" solution to use a $10ish plastic storage crate with it zip tied to the bottom is doing a pretty damn good job I'm not sure I will bother.

I just have it flipped upside down on the driveway when charging, keeping the main unit out of the elements, and once done, the crate makes a portable and weatherproof way to store and transport it.
