Hey guys, anyone out there with experience/own a holden captiva?
Looking to buy one (V6, petrol, 2012, onwards) but the feeling is really mixed out there. Seems like a lot of bad ones.
Any comments would be appreciated.

I was looking to buy one around that time. I asked a few people who had owned them and they also said they have had problems and each had at least one visit to the dealer to get them fixed.

Had one as a company car not too long ago (it was a 2010 model I believe), and while I believe they've since done some sort of facelift/revision, I would never buy one. It was horrible to drive, it felt cheap and tacky, and it seemed to always need something fixed or serviced.

Horrible things to drive - all the small holdens I have rented seem to be. And why are their designers obsessed with having two grills on every vehicle?

Not Captiva related, but would never buy a Holden again after having problems with an Astra years ago.
Was a heap of junk and the final nail in the coffin was GMs recommendation that the cam belts needed replacement at 60 thousand Kms (not 100 km as originally specified) - due to really bad design.
Holden is just a badge that GM puts on all sorts of random odds and sods from their array of products.
Sometimes they source from Europe, other times Korea occasionally USA. Sometimes a certain model switches supplier altogether. I expect most buyers dont care - but I think continuity is a good thing.
They also seem very inclined to drop models extremely quickly - God knows how difficult that must make the parts supply.

I've known a couple of people who've owned them and they both said they're a pile of junk. John Cadogan reckons they're the worst mainstream vehicle you can buy:
