Does anyone know if a Pioneer Carrozzeria AVIC-ZH-0007 car stereo has an English language setting? We bought a car in the weekend and it came with this stereo, but would prefer the menus to be in English if at all possible.

That sort of unit usually not unfortunately. Have the same issue with my parents head unit, fantastic bit of kit (BT, DVD, MP3, CD -> HDD) but all in Japanese so its a hit and miss and to figure things out. I'll be using Google Translate app on my phone to work out more this weekend :)

Wow really!?!
I have seen heaps of these things go to the bin as some cannot be converted to engish and the bands are different.
What did you do? Whats the outcome?

The other features usually entice people to keep them in place, as I mentioned my folks one has DVD etc, to get something similar NZ new, would be looking at quite a price.

We had a semi-decent unit in our "new" Mazda but got it replaced because we wanted NZ band and USB/MP3 support more than the other fancy features it offered.

We used http://www.jonvy.co.nz/ for our replacement (radio/CD/USB/Mp3/3.5mm input), was about $220 inc fitting IIRC.

They are good units in Japan, but yes they are not great over here. The radio reception will be rubbish even with a band expander, dvd won't work, nav won't work, tv won't work. It will be OK for CD and maybe USB if it has it. Personally it would annoy me half the features not working and I'd rip it out.

DVD works great, radio works great with a band expander, TV or Nav I am not fussed about. I also have set up the bluetooth with my phone as the car has a handsfree kit in it and it works fine for making and receiving calls.

I used Google Translate to read the menus, and now have it working fine, the radio works perfectly, as does the DVD and Hard Drive stuff, along with bluetooth for the cars handsfree kit.
