We are considering the purchase of an 2015 Audi. It does not have comfort access which is the ability to open and lock the car based on proximity, but we are wondering if it's possible to get this added via a third party solution? We don't care about the locking, but do care about the unlocking when near the car, which is handy if a person has bags and kids etc and no spare hands.

Contact ross tech support to see if they support your Audi model.

http://www.ross-tech.com/index.html

If they do you could do it yourself the cable is cheaper on ebay and the software is free.

Cheers

Even with proximity unlocking you need a spare hand to actually pull the handle to get the door or hatch open.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Not sure if you have an electric boot, on my Q7 if I hold the boot release on the key the rear hatch opens,

I remember when I have an earlier version and I was looking to get the MMI updated (ended up replacing vehicle instead)

there were installers listed in Ak that could do the module replacement and coding.

Perhaps have a search for Audi MMI installers in AK for guys that have aftermarket coding experience.

a quick search found these guys,  https://navnz.com/vehicle/audi/

And also ask in http://www.vask.org.nz/index.php?PHPSESSID=bp9nscgjsg3897vnfl6gk0emp7&

Good luck Audi's are temperamental, (I love the brand and my Q7 but its a testy relationship)
