The Hazard

We have identified a condition where increased electrical resistance in a component within the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system may result in a loss of power steering assistance.

What to do

In most cases, cycling the ignition key or engine start / stop switch will reinstate the power steering assistance. At all times mechanical steering is maintained. Turning the steering wheel will still turn the road wheels. Holden will commence repair of affected vehicles once replacement parts are available. We expect to commence repair of affected vehicles in July 2019.

In the meantime, just let people caught out by this crash into things. I have been in that situation and I know how hard it is to turn the wheel when the power steering goes out. Someone who knows what is going on and is reasonably fit can compensate, but an older or less fit driver could get into real trouble.

Wow, 7 months to get parts is quite a bit.

Wouldn't be nice in one of those parking buildings with lots of tight turns from one floor to the next - especially if it happened half way  into the turn.
