I bought an Alpine car radio in the US, it was half the price of here in NZ. However I seem to be able to pick up on a limited number of FM stations. The radio spans 87 to 107 MHz but I am worried there are other differences which stop it working. Any ideas?
I believe that America (being the country that does everything differently) steps frequencies on the 'odd' where as NZ (and Europe) step on the 'evens'
i.e. USA will step 90.1 90.3 90.5 90.7 where as we step 90.0 90.2 90.4 etc
If the tuner can step 100khz on odds/evens then it should be able to pick up all our radio stations, but if it can only skip odds you'll end up with a few stations
It steps in "odds" i.e. 88.1, 88.3, 88.5 etc Do you know if this is hardware or can be changed in firmware or by pressing the right combination of buttons to change the mode? As it is it can only see about 3 stations in Auckland!
