Had this e-mailed to me this morning from PB Tech:

Offer for Free Hyperfibre install and 1 month free Fibre 2000 or Fibre 4000.

Only catch however is it is MyRepublic but I guess it is still a way to get the install part done for free.

Dependent on Geekzone feedback concerning MyRepublic, I don’t know if you could call this a bargain nor a deal. ;)

Everyone here knows how much I dislike MyRepublic but anyway a couple of points here:

1) The routers offered on the page will struggle with 1Gbit, yet alone 2.5Gbit.
2) They're all overpriced...
3) MyRepublic is not the fastest so they really need to stop pulling that rubbish:

The top ISP's there are mainly Fibre only. Any ISP that offers xDSL or wireless will have their averages dragged down.

If we take 2 providers - one with a mix of customers (20% on Gigabit, 50% on Basic Fibre and the rest on xDSL) but has 1 million customers and one which has 2000 customers but 80% of those are on Gigabit and the remainder is on basic fibre with no xDSL what ISP is the fastest?

If you're searching for a provider I've listed off some points here: https://murfy.nz/2018/02/06/picking-the-right-isp/

And lastly, don't go with MyRepublic. I don't care what anyone says, but I do not at all support a provider who posts a whole lot of fake marketing cruft and there are better deals out there.

If you are going to buy a consumer-grade router for Hyperfibre then you don't at all need Hyperfibre. Read this: https://www.duckware.com/wifi

The next thread on here will be "I bought a $800 router and got hyperfibre, but im only get 200Mbps on wifi!!!!!!"

All those routers are just expensive trash. And as for putting a Dream Machine in the same category as Sophos UTM appliances... that's just a complete joke.

The only thing worth buying on that page are the slimline patch leads.

That is a very important factor when pimping 2gbps and 4gbps plans. You are literally setting customers up for failure if selling under powered routers/switches (and may have find yourself foul of the CGA or FTA).

I'm guessing this is North Island? I had to call enable (South Island Fibre Network) yesterday about an upcoming change of ISP and I asked about Hyperfibre in Chch. Its rolling out to Businesses only within the CBD in the next 8 months and won't be at residential addresses for at least 18-24 months in Christchurch.

It's available in parts of the Chorus network. Enable only form a small portion of the South Island (i.e. Christchurch), vast majority is Chorus.

Edit: Sorry, available nationwide on Chorus now. Just up to an RSP to provide it.
