If I get a Chromecast 2 from FishPond will I have to pay import tax/duty and will it have a AU/NZ style plug if it's being shipped from the US?

Although surely as Fishpond acting as a local company & importer they'd need to supply NZ compatible electrical bits? (It's an odd situation so I'm not really sure to be honest)

Just get it from B&H since they dont seem to perpetually list things they cant sell like fishpond do.

Most likely a NZ URL but based on Hong Kong or the like..

It will ship with a US adapter because Google is not supplying to AU/NZ yet - and that's one of the reasons why it takes ages for big companies to do global deployments

The adaptor is a standard low power version with a USB connection, to plug a cable into it to power the chromecast. Any adaptor will do - I have repurposed an old samsung for that role, as the TV Im using doesnt have a USB port on it.

They are actually a local company, basically they import on demand, essentially making it a drop-shipper. Which brings up my original point. surely as an importer they need to provide local adapters by law.

Plugs and fittings have been listed as high risk articles that require a formal approval before they are able to be sold in New Zealand. Plugs intended for use outside of New Zealand and Australia do not comply with recognised safety standards and cannot be legally sold. As a result the sale of appliances fitted with foreign plug types is not permitted in New Zealand.

The last photo on the Fishpond page shows a white NZ plug adapter attached to the side of the box.

The same white NZ adapter came with the Chromecast 2 that I bought from PBTech.

I have found fishpond really good to deal with, although haven't purchased off them for a few years. Their website is a little dated looking. PB Tech are selling the new chromecast for $88 with free shipping which isn't bad.
