Get an extra month subscription to Microsoft Office Home for free each year when you renew your subscription.

This probably works for other editions but I have only used Office 365 Home.

Before you add the new subscription at www.office.com/setup go into your Office 365 account and turn off Automatic Renewal.

Then when you renew your subscription you will get an extra month for enabling Automatic Renewal. See the screenshot below. This is the second or third time that I've done this saving an additional 11% each year.

Of course, you don't pay the full NZD165 price because you should always buy your Office subscription on sale - you can buy the subscriptions in advance and add them to your account and they will be queued to automatically renew.

This year, I bought Office 365 Home for $80 at the PBTech 2016 Boxing Day Sale. It is only NZD102.35 right now which is the cheapest NZ deal at the moment according to Pricespy.

For single-user Microsoft Office 365 Personal, not the five-user Home edition.

Whoops my bad, still a good price though for someone who needs Office for their computer.

And you should still be able to get the extra month free as per the OP.

Thanks for the heads up - just claimed for 2 (which according to t&cs is allowed) since I purchased two at that ridiculous price PB Tech were doing.

Are there any New Year sale offers anyone knows about please?

Currently use Word & Excel, are there other free alternative options available?

There are a few free Office Suites that have relatively high levels of compatibility with Microsoft Office (MSO). The more advanced the features that you use then the less likely they are to be completely compatible for you.

http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-office-suite.htm

For example, Libre Office (LO) has macros for Calc and Writer but they are not fully compatible with Microsoft Office. Apparently, LO macros are more likely to translate to MSO than the other way around:

https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Recording_a_Macro

SoftMaker Office and KingSoft WPS Office have macros but their free versions FreeOffice and WPS Office Free do not.

So I did this - preloaded 2 years of Office 365 personal for the price - I prob will pre load it for 3-5 years next time. Each time I did the renew which added an extra month.

I've now got more devices so I wanted to install on my Macbook as well. Went to the MS NZ Store added Office 365 Home monthly $16 - paid for it and the install # went from 1 to 5. I then disabled my auto-renew and the date for my subscription lasting until 2019. So for $16 I've managed to uplift my Home to Office until 2019.
