Just in case anyone else has issues. When I first got the "checkout" the discount hadn't applied for me. I entered the code and it said "applied" but the price didn't update. The only way I got it to apply was to get to the checkout, apply the code, remove the $38 item from the cart, then go shopping for it again. The price was free the second time I got to the checkout.

Strange - and it might just be me.

Thanks for pointing that out. Seems to be a glitch in the matrix. The price should update automatically when the promo code is applied. In the worst case it seems removing and re-adding the domain solves the issue. We will have a look.

Q: If I own domain xxx.co.nz can I get xxx.kiwi for free with that given i already have the xxx.co.nz domain?

I recall hearing the existing .co.nz domains were reserved with .nz and .kiwi.

Hi Coil,

Thanks for your question. The .KIWI extension is owned and operated by an independant registry operator and not by the DNC.org.nz who manage the .NZ domain extension. This means that owning a .NZ or .CO.NZ domain name doesn´t mean that you can claim the respective name under .KIWI. Maybe you can find a different, available domain name instead.

Let me know if you need more details on that.

Cheers,

Daniel

Depends on your current registrant.. Domains4less, domainz.net.nz and others owned by the big AU appear to have snapped up most .kiwi variants (Registrant Name: Umbrellar Limited t/a Domain Agent)  once the 'protect your brand' offers expired and then a few of us had cold call sales pitches offering them.

I have a couple of .co.nz and .nz domains and have just registered the .kiwi for the same domains with no problem.

Edit: taking Oblivian's post into account, I'm with Crazy Domains and GoDaddy for my current domains.

Edit2: Following the link posted by freitasm didn't require my entering of the discount code as it was automatically applied.

I see that this is free only for the first year. But what are ongoing prices after the 1st year. When I look up the prices on the domain page, it says .kiwi domains are $0.00. Does this mean that they are always free?
