You folks realise buying WiFi gear in the USA is asking for trouble seeing they can use different bands than New Zealand?

I wouldn't have a clue eh. Definitely not my field of expertise. I just like finding deals. Would this be the case with all networking gear purchased overseas?

Also for future reference, would there be any other products you would be hesitant to buy from overseas? I.e., phone, GPS, laptop, robot vacuum etc.

I regularly search Amazon for good deals, but I don't want to be posting deals on products that might not work here.

Unless you know what you are doing I wouldn't buy WiFi gear. Also if you buy a laptop overseas you risk it working intermittently with WiFi in New Zealand for the same reason. Phones are a risk too because cheap models don't have the necessary support for all 4G bands in use in New Zealand.

GPS, robot vacuum are ok.

Books are ok too, except sometimes they use "ize" instead of "ise" 😛

Genuinely curious, did you actually have had issues with wifi gears targetted towards US market?

With 2.4 GHz it shouldn't be an issue as US has more restrictive bands than the rest of the world.

With 5 GHz bands, it may be a simple as changing the config to the destination country, not sure however.
