TeaLeaf:

Aus had 3 decades of teams that NZ has only had levels similar too in the last 5-7 years.

In saying that, no exscuses, NZ has the 2nd most finals in world cricket at 11 with only Aus ahead of them with 12.

Some would say that is absolutely choking. I think NZ 2015 played stupidly, Mcullum just wanted to premeditate aggression, which is where NZ choked. The bowling was world class in that whole series as was the chase vs SA to make the final. 2019 was just total BS from the ICC, NZ didnt lose that WC, fact, after a super over it was still drawn, so it gets given to another team who didnt have the grace or sportsmanship to put the score of drawn NZ on the Cup. T20 WC 2021, I personally feel the selection replacement lost the match as Kane needed somebody other than himself to keep the scoring at 8rpo, some would say the 36 dot balls was the choking, others would say how can you argue with his freakish final score and SR. Personally I do put the blame on his style of play at that point in the match, not ticking the dots to singles etc. Perhaps NZ should have put Phillips in at 3. Kane is an amazing test player, a stabiliser in ODIs but for me he would not be my pick for what we needed. How do you replace him when neither Taylor or the fast scoring Munro (not selected for pure political reasons) were not in the 16 man squad, so all they could do, which they should have, is push Kane down to 4 or even 5, because if you dont score 80-100 in the first 10 on that pitch, batting first, you have lost before you even bowl.

Choke, maybe 2015, and T20 2021 WC. Certainly statiscally they should have converted more than 1/11. But hopefully what happens is this period we are in that will continue for another 6 -8 years, will spur on some young guys coming through to play at this level but to aim higher. Kane should be the benchmark for batsmen and guys like Wagner the minimum heart and skill for the bowlers and maybe Patel and Sodhi to spur on more quality leggies. Whcih really is what Handle is refering to with how you produce a national team.

Regardless of choking maybe a couple of times, its still amazing a nation with a tiny player pool (keep in mind Cricket is the national sport of some of these countries like Aus and Ind's population......).

Re choking, if you are not prepared to continue with the gameplay that got you there and clam up, that is choking. NZ is not the only culprit, ask any person who plays sport at any level

NZ nearly batted out of this now, really need some magic from Jamo or Southee. Patel could be NZs first bowler to get the lot.

310/7 after one day and 13 overs isn't batted out. Its not 480/3. If we clean them up, and bat and bat well, time will probably run out, a draw, an EXCELLENT result. Like the other day, play for a draw. We can't bat like India in India, although we can see how it goes. But that wont be the 4 RR you want

Oh dear, home umpires not up for that. Yep should have been 8fa. suprised Jaz didnt go harder with that review if he thought Kholi was worth such a big shout. IMO thats a square up.

Will Young didn't ask, same here. Maybe Ajaz being without a big historical presence, didn't feel up to sticking his neck out?

Get India out for 350 and try and score 500 runs to get a result. Even if we don’t win if we can at least draw this match then this would probably be NZ best test series in India. Any time you play away series and draw the series that’s still a good result.

Yep. When you don't let the home side win (which is very common) you are taking points away from them. You cannot get them back.

I’m really confuse with the whole reviewing system. I really thought that one was going to miss the wicket for Ajaz 8th wicket.

Sorry for using the wrong terminology but I thought when the ball hits the pad but it’s outside off the line of the stumps that they lose the review and it doesn’t go through ball tracking? Why was it different this time?

Finally Somerpies starts bowling at 5th/6th stump instead of at the off stump which has just idiotic bowling from a right hand finger spinner. And he gets an edge on the 2nd one, unlucky not to go to the slip.

If the batsman doesnt offer a shot, the line goes out the window.

Well I was semi serious about Patel getting all 10. Ok its not Hadlee like given its a one off and how many overs its taken, but would be a serious feat for NZ spin bowling, again spurring on some future "real" spinners, none of this Vetttori/Santner stuff.

When I say NZ batted out already, Im basing that on NZs collapse in both innings 1st test and its turning far more here much sooner, Ind still have 3 excellent spinners, unlike somers, they will not bowl finger spin at middle stump or down leg side.

NZ also need to score with intent ie 3rpo, period.
