Yeah the DRS zone was extended apparently another 75m but hasn't really had the impact you'd hope for.
Heard a rumour of perhaps V10 returning (running bio fuel) from 2028?...
just watched Lawson get interviewed , he looks and sounds like a broken man . I am not sure how long he has but Red Bull wont put up with there cars getting knocked out in Q1 and being the slowest car.
Common sense is not as common as you think.
Is VCARB going to end up the fourth quickest team this season, they have built a very slippery car. You put Verstappen behind the wheel and it would look a real contender for the WDC.

Yep he seemed broken. No excuses but no viable solutions either.
He was very tentative around his whole flying lap. By contrast Verstappen wrestles that car, and is brutal under braking into corners.
The optics don’t get any worse than this one. Yuki and Hadjar both miles ahead of Liam on the time sheets.
Hope Liam has some experience at Japan previously?
tdgeek:
Anyone have any stats on what drivers made the most passes in the sprint race? Liam 19th to 14th was good
Not passes, but places gained/lost:
Gasly & Lawson were all genuine passes from memory.

He drove Super Formula for a year in Japan so very familiar with Suzuka. Fingers crossed for a good weekend in Japan.
My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.
Hope he’s not all up in his head. Has a Brendon Hartley vibe currently.
Red Bull should be investing strong in sport psychologists, as their young driver training growth only to rapidly turnover drivers must be a very expensive exercise.

Red Bull said that Lawson's 'mental resilience' was a key factor in swaying the decision to award him the top seat. I guess we will now see if he's got what it takes and that belief was justified. I have no doubt he understood intellectually what the potential risks were in persuing a Red Bull drive and the contractual performance clauses that come with it, but he will now be feeling the full weight of that in all its scary reality.
Unfortunately Red Bull have gone down this cul de sac of development whereby, in addition to trying to build the quickest F1 car, they've also added a criteria of showcasing Verstappen's alien driving skills it seems. That was all well and good when the competitors were far from an optimal engineering solution but those days are long gone.
Didn't see but I'm guessing Lawson was back onto the older front wing for qualifying after he ripped off the end plate in the Sprint race earlier.
On a positive note, it was good to see both Horner and Marko come down to wish Liam good luck while he was sat on the grid prior to the start of the Sprint. Did not expect that, especially from Marko when Verstappen was up in P2 and Liam was down in P19.
Having watched the last season of Drive to Survive, being in F1 is a brutal career and one that could be over very quickly if one doesn't perform. Its high profile and results matter more.
Lawson to go before the half season, only because discussions off the track take longer.
Sorry.
Can we love Piastri as our brother from another country, but still close and very similar flag.
The little things make the biggest difference.
Its a weird situation. He has put up highly competitive times in the dry. But he can't get to grips with the car, overheating the tyres. In past years he would be midfield as he got up to speed, but with the whole field more compressed, being a bit off looks worse. Arguably Perez this year would look similar, he also couldn't get to grips with the car. Its heading to a Danny Ricc scenario at McLaren and Alpha Tauri. Wonder what car setup he chooses vs what he wants? Max likes a stiff pointy car, is Liam defaulted to that? He looked better in the race. Disappointing as he's not caving under Max pressure, and he has put up very solid times, its more of a one lap issue than a race pace issue? IIRC, in F2 he wasnt setting the track alight in quali there either.
With the field compressed, and this applies to the top cars as well, quali is going to be everything. Anyone of the top 4 teams that got pole, would have won. As Oscar said in a win, clean air is everything. Bernie stated that if you look at the best sectors, its a Oscar/Lando 1-2 in quail. That would lead to an ease away 1-2 in the race
Albon is going great
Racing Bulls have a great car, its reasonably quick but its stable, they have hustled it as they trust it.
First dry weekend to see where Ferrari sit. Mercedes are getting better, that car is probably 3rd now, Red Bull 4th
Race prediction? Oscar, Lando, George. Max, the Ferraris, the Mercedes all right there. Strategy will be as key as quali IMO
Liam 10th. On the basis that he was only 4/10 off 10th in quali when he couldn't get the car to work. Sprint race it was a lot better, so the full race should be a lot better given the extra laps.

Pretty much agree. If Liam starts to perform better and better in the race, let's even say to a level where Marko wants, if he continues to be poor in quali, there is little point having a car thats close to Max, if it starts 15 places behind every race.
Oscar, yes, he is Down Under thats all that matters! Exact reason why I follow Red Bull, due to Mark Webber. I still remember when he spun the car on the turn before spoon at Suzuka, he was in the fight for the Drivers till then.
The RB21 seems to be an extremely difficult car to drive. I wonder if Lando or Charles would be able to equal or beat Max in it?
Just watched the post quali interviews. Seems everyone has issues with tyres. Mercedes had no clue so they made a big change in tyre prep, which worked great. Lando was good but made errors. Oscar who laid the best two laps in Q3 said it was very tricky. The track has great grip but if you lose it, its punishing. Makes me feel that Racing Bulls have a rock solid, stable and reliable car/setup.
Going back to Liam, if he can't muster one lap pace in the next 4 r 5 races, they will swap him out with Yuki. That may not be a bad option. Yuki's aggression may cost him in a Red Bull, Liam may take car of Hadjar. Or not, all up in the air, but I feel Liam may be better off in a solid car that is competitive, thats Racing Bulls.

No. Max is the best driver on the grid, by a reasonable margin. I'd favour Oscar in your scenario. IIRC he was the only driver in 2024 to finish every lap. He is quick and getting quicker but he seems to manage problems better than Charles or Lando.
Daggers are out. Hadjar is now the big thing, oddly if they swap put Liam it might be Hadjar, not Yuki. Also word of other Red Bull Academy drivers can put their requests in.
When Horner was asked by Ted, he evaded it. "We will do our best to give him a good car" I guess they expected Liam to be 1 or 2 places behind Max, 3/10 once bedded in.
