RB's Max has already been taken out by Lewis and Perez taken out by Bottas costing millions
anyway, it's the positions at the end of the race tomorrow that matter.
just hoping for a clean race ....
insane: Hamilton sithed through the pack today, suspect he'll do the same to the top order tomorrow.
Going to call the end result:
P1 Ham
P2 Max
P3 Bottas
P4 Perez
All those destructive/limit engine testing done on Bottas's car was surely to understand just how much they can reliably wring out of Lewis's last engine to try win him the title. I'm surprised RB didn't take a penalty this week too to make it a zero sum game.
Bold! Yes, he has the best engine as has always been the case, and its new, which is big. Max can be careful and just take points, Lewis has to get bigger points so more risk. With Mercedes engine teams on the grid and 4 Honda cars, controversy could be there. Each race that goes by, heavily favours Max, he can grab points Lewis can grab risk. However a DNF changes everything. Id say Max will try to win on strategy, otherwise be happy to tail Bottas every lap.
Unsure why RB would get a penalty. Drivers, as in ALL drivers poke and prod other cars, that's the precedent. They are not allowed to hug team members for the same sporting regs, as they might offload some hidden weight.

Clean race works for me.

Wow spot on.
Ugh, 'last to first' only counts if it's in the same race.
Also not much of an achievement in a car that's close to a second a lap quicker than the rest of the field.
insane: I used to like the AWS statistic that showed what % of the cars performance a driver was extracting on any given lap. (By looking at the all time best corner, straight, sector, lap times the driver had done)
Gave a great idea of how well a driver was performing relative to the tool they were sat on.

Where do we find it for this race?
My 10 seconds of google foo didn't turn up any recent results. Here is the explanation of how it works though - https://aws.amazon.com/f1/driver-performance/
The full list of AWS stats are here: F1 Insights powered by AWS (amazon.com)
Someone still has to drive it, so hats off to Lewis, but lets get honest here - that merc was leagues ahead of everything on that track, so much so it should be in another class level altogether. To see Lewis trying different angles etc, positioning the car differently to take lines that could lead to passes, whilst the competition were on the edge of traction in their vehicles trying to keep it on the road was nuts.
I hope the 2022 regs really do achieve a closer racing outcome. Whilst normally the field should have condensed by now, it's now what 7 years of merc dominance and still only one team this year is close to them. It's not Hamilton's fault his gear is so good, but I'm fully backing anyone who gets close. I think it's good for any sport to not have too much of a good thing, so was happy to see the recent All Blacks rugby result for example. That's good for the sport.
iirc next 3 races are all power circuits ... it will be interesting ..

agree. as much as i don't like LH, he is the most decorated racer ever for a reason and i respect that. as much as i don't like roger federer, his abilities never fail to impress me - no one else comes close.

Yeah. I was surprised Max lasted till lap 51. Better start, hammered by SC, gave Bottas and easy pitstop on VSC, lucky Max lasted that long when its Merc track, more bhp, new engine, DRS is huge there, then Lewis drove off the last few laps.
Re Lewis last to first, well, its a two horse race, no one else has the pace. ^ or 7 laps from the finish, 5th place was two pitstops behind, so last to first over 96 isn't that hard at all
Last 3 races will suit Merc, so I think RBR will lower the rest wings a bit
