Haha did you watch Athers and Bumble fishing

I say Honoury Kiwis, love their commentary. Not much of a Nas fan though.

Hagley I think is our second best test oval now. Just beats university oval. Some goodies in the North Island. Nothing beats the Basin.

We so close now to seeing off the openers and this new ball. Latham dropped again, he has the best luck of any player.

Once they are off it will be 17 overs, get to 20, then start looking to score, plenty of time but want to make runs whie the ball has lost its seam

90 runs a session. that leaves us at 100 at end of day. 3 sessions tomorrow = 270 at 3rpo. thats spot on with 282 needed. I think if taylor and williamson get in the run rate will be more like 3.5 though as thats their natural SR.

I reckon the Barmy Army a bit bad sportsmanship chanting loudly while our openers are playing under bad light, its almost trance like. In tennis you have to shut up, you think they would have the respect to be quiet while the batsman is playing a shot, no issue in between and in between overs.

Well done NZ, aside from the dropped catch off Latham, we looked very confident. The runs dont matter. NZ arent playing for the win now, as it looks like we will get 2 sessions tomorrow.

DRAW !!!!!!!!

Best home test match season for a long time. Cleaned up the first 2 comers and now one of the best in the world. Will definitely raise our ranking.

Overall very proud of NZ. Not a lot of talent to choose from, but that talent finds a way to be up there with some of the best.

A bit like the All Blacks, only being 4.5 million, there is always the pressure that countries with a lot more talent pool will dominate, but the All Blacks take it as an oath to leave the Jersey in better shape than when they put it on.

Some would call it stubborn stoic under dog always demanding to be on top. At least in rugby, in cricket we try to do it the best we can.

So have to be proud of what they have achieved.

Terrible start?

Taylor and latham need to bat to the end of lunch.

I wish there was a way to cut out the Barmy Army, I use to like them, but I find them obnoxious now, doing that oh ohhhhh oh thing to try and put that batsman off simply means they dont believe in their team being able to do it.

If Tennis players need silence why should batsman have the crowd making noise to try and put them off?

Its novel at first, but its like listening to a single beatles song on loop.

Id have no issue if they would not do it so frequent, the songs are SOOO repetitive. Poms.

Disastrous start! 2 wickets in the first 2 balls of the morning. Park the bus Black Caps (to use a football analogy) and bat for the draw!!

I honestly thought if we got through to this morning without losing a wicket we had a chance of doing just that. My feelings now are we are unlikely to last 3 sessions with 3 batsmen left.

ONe thing we  cant do is just block, that will get us out. If we could get a period of scoring that could put Root into the mindset that we could chase down the runs, which is we were another team we could lol.

Taylor dropped, again we dont do pressure, we can fly when the pressure is low. If he had gone, thats a collapse even though its only 3 wickets, its 3 of the best batsmen in the NZ test lineup

Well hes gone now.

Raval and Taylor STUPIDITY.

Why would you play that shot in the air when you know that fieldsman is there.

Eng have one genuine wicket, NZ have 2 wickets for Eng.

That ball to Williamson I cant complain, it was a jafa.

But these other 2 are straight out stupidity.

Well this is it, the next wicket HAS to survive until mid second session. Knowing its likely to be 2.5 session game we dont have to do anything amazing. But dont be playing sweep shots when the player is standing there for the top edge.

They say he may not have known that the fielder moved closer

ENG have 3 wickets that what the scoreboard shows. Caused partly by the bowler and partly by the pressure exerted by ENG

They say runs dont matter.

But if NZ can score 3rpo for 50 overs that leaves about 150 from 30 overs, if we are still only 3 down, thats highly possible. but more to the point if we keep scoring Joe Root might start thinking runs do matter and he might go on the defense if hes anything like Williamson. He has to win this though, but some Captains would go for the draw if their is a possibility they may lose.

Well I think thats just trying to make some kind of excuse because he played a shot just prior and the player wasnt that much further back, even if he had been where he was before he would have moved in to catch it.

There was no pressure on Raval, that was just a stupid shot and Taylors was just as stupid knowing they are looking for him to sweep a top edge, thats not pressure thats playing really dumb shots.

Ask the commentators that's what they said, it certainly looked like he played that shot intentionally. As for Raval, Ive seen a few legside air shots from us that get caught. Bowler nabbed him

Now Nichols. Pressure too much, they should be blocking anything thats a risk, take a few easy ones and battle on, but they are playing shots that can get caught or edged.. As if they want to keep in touch with the win later on.

Precisely, anything else is just mindless. If you get out to a Jafa, thats just cricket, like Williamson.

The ball has lost its seam now, so all they have to do is what you said, until the new ball. Which is when they will need to be really good at watching the ball, so they are not playing at balls moving off the seam.

There is the chance we will lose more play due to light again (thank you day light savings and clouds). I really hope so. We have CDGH left, so the next session if we only lose one wicket, we have a chance to survive. Southee will need to be at his best again, the rest of the tail, may be good at scoring runs but can they rotate the strike to he last remaining batsman. Its going to be very tight. ENg well on top

The forecast here is 27, southerly change midday, which means cool and clouds. But its sunny, few clouds, to the SW there are some clouds a long way away. 21 now, and SW
