Added Spark Sport to my Spark account and enjoying watching the Dutch GP while spreadsheeting. Nice to see those awesome machines after a long time without watching F1.

I did feel for Lewis.

I also did. Until he starting mouthing off to the team. I know many will say "oh he was just upset and it was a heat of the moment thing". He does it far too often now. Whenever things dont go his way with a strategy he immediately jumps on the team. Its pretty disgusting really considering how many kids will look up to him and the fact he is knighted. If I were Toto I'd have given him a kick up the backside about that behaviour. And if it continued I'd start doing that over the air.

It was a little amusing, given that what he said about Alonso's outburst on the radio towards him the previous week.  If not for the safety car we may have had a grandstand finish, or perhaps another of those 2021 Hamilton/Verstappen clashes where one or other or both get taken out.  It did still feel like Max had the measure of them all though.

Looks like Lawson's slim chance at a 2023 seat are gone with Marko's comments about Herta.  Are the FIA going to bend the rules on the super licence though. It's not entirely dissimilar to the situation which allowed Hartley to get the drive a few years back, when all the leading candidates didn't have enough SL points.  Should be interesting to see how the politics play out.

If Gasly goes there is a space, ideal for Lawson. Sergio needs to go, maybe Herta there

Aware of that, I was posting my opinion not his contract details

FP3 just finished up and it’s looking easily like the Max show tomorrow again.
A few cars taking 5 or 10 place grid penalties for various engine replacement part changes, so starting grid will be a bit out of order initially, but shouldn’t take Red Bull long to carve back through the field.

Very hot temps there, at least for qualifying coming, so good for Mercedes who struggle to get their tyres up to temp normally.

Alpine looking very punchy, Lando doing well but Daniel miles off the pace. Albon off with appendicitis so new driver in as cover for him.

Looking forward to this race, a few races to watch

Max going after Charles

Danny Ricc better, closer in Quali sessions for a change, unsure if he got any tows.

Alonso going well

McLaren, staring 2nd row

George well in play

I'd say Max will win, Charles has dominated quali but not the race distance. McLaren might worry George as close in Quaili, although the latter is better in the race once they get the tyres warmed up. Although the less corners and more straights wont help that

Should be a comfortable 2nd, and can win.

They should indeed comfortably finish second

However @Batman is saying that he expects that somehow Ferrari will find a way to screw things up and finish off the podium.
Unfortunately, I find this entirely probable 😟

Certainly possible. It’s a straight forward 1 stop, but let’s see how they react to VSC or safety car!

Good race, various strategy options deployed. Pity about the safety car

They really need to sort the SC out in F1. While there was never a Red Flag option, to the disappointment of the tifosi, its too long to sort out. SC took a while to appear, its not organised, so it drags on. It should not take long to get the SC on track, or the lapped cars to unlap themselves (aka get out of the way)

DeVries has impressed, he will be driving next year, I feel taking the place of Latifi is the obvious and easiest instant option. Maybe something better if one turns up

Also, grid penalties needs to be revisited, although thats a complex one.

I think they could have out a red flag out there; they knew it would take a time to clear the McLaren as it wasn't near an exit and unlapping the cars would take too long... Red flag the race, sort out the cars in the pits, standing start and boom 3 laps of fun.

edit: I just don't think the FIA protocols are particularly setup to be exciting though and certainly not dynamic enough.
