I guess one of us must be misunderstanding something. The track was cool when the USs were put on. The track did not cool down over the time when Hamilton's USs came to life towards at the end, it would have had an increase in temperature over and during that time. Cool track kept the USs going for very long. Cool track is detrimental to performance of tyres that already struggle to get heat on a normal day. Increase in performance over time is not due to track that cooled over that period.

Anyway, I was wondering if DR had too much faith in RBR. If LH was "pulled in for pit stop" he would have questioned everything including what tyres are you sure, etc. DR said RB pulled him in and he just followed and didn't ask any questions and tyre choice wasn't discussed. So, in that sense, LH > DR, and he did win it fair and square. About LH shutting the door, well they do it all the time. That's racing. You should watch V8SC (while it's called V8)! Shunting is so normal there!

Fair and square? My god, he was gifted, ask the paddock. On the one hand thats F1, it happens, but when you ignore the gifting of a face and tell us that I earned it, there was no luck involved, thats BS. he is arrogant, a poor loser, can't speak to save himself, and he givves himself the credit that wasnt due. Whiner

He is an arrogant b@s#@rd, a whinging loser, and spoilt brat. RB gave him the victory. Maybe even the title [I really hope Nico can respond to this and not lose his mojo.] He didn't cheat, he didn't force his team to tell Nico to move over. I'd say blame RB not him.

The track cooled near the end, with a slight shower of rain coming near the end.

look at it another way, he successfully lapped quicker than pretty much all the other cars on used wets when they where on inters, he successfully managed 30 odd laps on used wets and then transitioned to a single set of slick tyres when the others had two stops or more, he successfully managed to keep a much faster car around Monaco behind him despite the advantage redbull had with aero performance and the super softs working on that chassis. I would say that he deserved the win from that perspective; this is simply because he has no control of other actions around him. He got some luck with the pitstop from RB but DR had a lot of opportunities in to breaking zones where he was faster and Lewis defended well.. Now, I do believe that if DR had been ahead then he would have pulled away and won with ease but as it was the merc was struggling (compared to normal) on this circuit and he started 3rd and finished 1st... Not bad eh?

For sure, im not blaming him for winning. "Its great to win here again, yes, I got lucky when RBR made a mistake, but I was here to capitilise, and I did. "

Thats what any other driver would have said, as they have done over the years. Roll on Canada!

Sorry I disagree. They stayed out on wets as was well seen, the inters werent the magic that was expected a long way out. I wouldnt call the 13 second gift of track position some luck, that was a gift. DR or anyone had a minimal of opportunities, its Monaco. LH drove not bad, thats all I can agree with. Not bad, on a plate actually. the de;ta wasnt high with those two sets and his were new DR's were used, so a lot closer still. Result wise I have no issue its what happens, I do have an issue with him saying he earmt it, there ws no luck involved, ask Lauda, "gifted"

Every historic sporting moment will now have to go down in history as - no the ABs didn't win it fair and square, Wallaby 13 made a glaring mistake in the 64th minute, or SA 10 missed penalty from in front of post 3 times. No Roger Federer didn't actually win, but Djokovic made more unforced errors. Lydia Ko won because so and so missed three putts from 2 yards. No we don't read those sort of things. (I do, but, not everyone else it seems)

Anyway, that's not how the world celebrate. They don't remember the ones that didn't win. They only remember who wins, and rarely, how. Unfortunately.

I dont disagree. However a blatant gift doesnt quite mean "I earned it, there was no luck involved , i am God" (he didnt say I am God, he just thinks it :-) )

Interesting start to the race again at Canada!

Epic launch from the Ferrari - Mercedes seem to have a distinct disadvantage here for some reason.

Hamilton vs. Rosberg (part deux) - my initial reaction to the live footage was that the move was uncalled for by Hamilton, and that he would be facing some very unhappy team personnel afterwards. (if not the stewards)

However the onboard replay showed a very different view. When the impact occurred, Hamilton had the line for the corner (Turn 1) and Rosberg squeezed him against the apex.

Again - another instance of Rosberg trying to move onto racetrack that is occupied by his teammate who has the track limit on the other side. And another instance of him laying the blame for the impact at Lewis' feet.

I'm fairly certain that there will be contrary views here as well :-)

Im not a nico fan, but even less of a lewis fan

I dont totally agree or disagree with what you are saying, Lewis is Slow off the start, nico made up those few meters up on him, the first corner is not far from the start line,

by the start of the corner like in your pic hes already beside him, and not just by a wing, 99% of his car,

lewis could have left space into the next corner, they could both have gone around turn 2 side by side easy enough, like the rest of the field but it likely would have cost lewis position,

perfer to run him off the track instead, as he always does, and as Nico should have expected from to do it. if they were not teammates

for me it would be a little different.

in the end im for anything that causes chaos for Mercedes

But you're missing my point... I'm not arguing that Nico wasn't alongside Lewis. Nico made a much better start.

However, Lewis didn't run Nico off the track - Nico turned in on Lewis before the apex of Turn 1, made contact and consequently never made it to Turn 2.

(ok - technically, we're talking about Turns 2 and 3)

Lewis leaving room for him at "Turn 2" would make no difference because Nico was already recovering through the runoff area when Lewis was negotiating "Turn 2"

no way - lewis was to the right of the racing line by quite a bit into the first corner, on purpose im sure, later blaming it as "understeer" when he touched Nico :) THEN forced him off.

/me orders a rosberg cap :P

Just look at Vettel's placement in the screen capture above. He's on the curbs, so Hamilton did have room to move in there. Not bothered by that incident at all, but just saying this in reference to the image and comments above.

Yes - the kerbs are being used (legitimately) by Vettel - but the screenshot is the last frame before the Mercedes touch. Lewis is about a foot from the LHS track limits (technically the white line).

Any suggestion that he ran Nico off the track to the RHS (after seeing the on-board coverage) is just being silly IMHO - though I reiterate, that was my first reaction from the overhead (live) footage.
