Klipspringer: South Africa at number 1 for Test Cricket...
Cant wait for the SA vs Blackcaps matches.

On the Blackcaps current form it would be an epic struggle, but my money would be on SA
Jas777: The rankings reflect who you have played, where you have played them and what has happened in last 2-3 years.
The problem NZ has is that we do ok in NZ but have been really poor overseas in the last 2 years. Losing badly in South Africa and England and not being able to win in Bangladesh.
We are currently 7th now and due to money resources, talent resources NZ natural ranking is in the 5-8 bracket. Until we get a world class spinner (one who actually spins the ball), a really quick bowler and 2 opening batsmen we will be around 7 and 8 mark.

Well if McCullum can keep playing like he has been lately, and keep it constant then I would say the Blackcaps could have a good chance.
+ if Jesse Ryder could just grow up and stop all the boozing and acting like a child then the Blackcaps could have even a better chance.
IMO the Blackcaps are playing really well of late.

Sodhi seems to have a lot of talent. All he really needs now is a really good bowling coach and lots of experience. I think Ish could be a huge threat to opponents in the years to come. Our fielding in my opinion is probably the best in the world at the moment and what are we score, we can add another 30 to it due to our fielding. Jesse and Guptill arent a world class opening pair but they are descent. All we need is Jesse to stop acting up (what a child). Our bowlers are also very good. Southee, Boult and Wagner are a great pace attack in tests and when you add an experienced ish sodhi to the mix, we are going to be a deadly bowling attack.
All we really need now is to gain experience. The team has finally gained momentum and confidence after a few years of struggle. This is our chance to win our first world cup and we have a near perfect team to do it :D

He needs to go back to club/provincial level cricket for a couple of years and prove himself on and off the field before he is given another chance. That would mean his T20 and One Day world cup chances are gone, but this could be the wake up call he needs.

This is the exact same thing that happened last time. Went back and proved himself at provincial, and then within weeks back in the NZ team, he proves how little he's actually learned. During his 100+ days of "sobriety" last year, I saw him absolutely smashed in town one night, and my mate saw him almost get denied from a plane for being too drunk a few weeks earlier.

Read my email again. I said "a couple of years", and not a few weeks as has happened before.
