Got caught up watching the women's pole vault today. A very edifying experience!

But I love our Eliza. What a great advert for NZ sports and NZ's lovely people.

Watchout Lisa C, here's a challenge for the loveliest NZ sportswomansmile

In some ways she was lucky, because although she was an outside chance of winning a medal beforehand (she held the NZ record after all), she wasn't really known to most of NZ, so didn't have any pressure from the country. The next games will no doubt be different, and I am sure that pressure and expectations of the country does affect people performances. Some of the criticism and tall poppy stuff(partly fueled by the media) that goes on in NZ is terrible. I hope she doesn't get affected by it.
I am quite glad that people like Willis has had very little coverage, even though he has gotten into the final of the 1500 m, which is a blue chip olympic event. Hopefully this will work in his favour, and he can get his best result.

i feel cheated that we didn't get to see Isinbayeva go out in style. Why only ban Russians? Ban everyone from every sport.

But I digress ... EM nearly got gold. Well done.

I did see those and the media and tall poppy wasn't kind to him. Maybe it was to get the media off his back.
