My wife is ANZ Gold. She has two recognition upgrades due to expire shortly. She wants to use them on flights we have from AKL to SNG.

Sadly, not being Elite she cannot gift one to me, so if she is successful in her RU request we would end up in different cabins - me in PE and her in Business.

Despite not wanting to 'waste' the upgrade opportunity, she does not much like the idea of not sitting with me either.

What would be the most likely route (if there is one) to give us both the same chance of ending up in Business?

I assume One UP (although we will have to split our booking to do that, which brings other potential issues I guess) but thought the FF here might have other advice. If it is OU, what is a reasonable bid from PE to Business? It's an overnight flight so a flat bed would be pleasant.
