I am looking for a SIM with plenty of data to last around a month with option to call in and out from that connection for my wife for Europe. I will be taking my Vodafone connection and upgrading to $70/month for a month with $5/day roaming deal so will get unlimited calling, texting and 4.5GB data and my number stays. My wife is currently with 2Degrees pay monthly but roaming deals look sub par compared to Vodafone. Our Airbnb all have WiFi so only need little data while out and about.

Is the Three UK's feel at home deal the best for data? $40 for 1 month for 12GB data in all the European countries we are visiting. No 4G but 3G will be plenty fast for whatsapp, Facebook and her Instagram. Thoughts?

I've had mostly good experiences with Three, I keep a SIM live and when I travel, 10UKP gives me all I need for a few weeks away (currently 1GB + 150MB bonus, 100 minutes and lots of texts).  The only problems I've had have been poor network perormance in the US but that's probably down to the specific carrier.  The only gotcha is that the calling minutes are only to UK numbers, but you can get around that with Skye Out etc.  Hotspotting seems to work, although I don't think you're meant to do it on that package

I'm on Three over here and it's great for travelling. I was in Poland the other weekend and noticed I got 4g for the first time while roaming, so maybe that is changing.

If you are travelling after June, then any UK/EU network will work. EU laws are changing to stop roaming costs within Europe. So that'll be good for 2 years until Brexit ruins it.

I was on Three and loved being able to travel and still use it like it was in the UK.  You will have to check the conditions though, as when I had it (14 months ago), the free roaming was only available if you were on contract and had been on the contract for a minimum of 3 months.

Thanks for the replies and vote of confidence for 3 (Three) network. Will order a SIM card from ebay with enough credit to setup 12GB data roaming for 30 days. Comes with 300 minutes but as you say, can only call UK though will add extra credit so can make calls to any number.
