Can someone please help.  US$ is the default currency on my Air NZ OneSmart debit card.  I want to load NZ$ to pay for the monthly fee.  I have loaded NZ$ twice in the last couple of months & each time it converts the NZ$ to US$.

How do I stop this happening so that my monthly fee is paid with NZ$?

I can't help with this sorry but what I do know is that some of these airline and bank type cash cards get very mixed reviews. Last year I was thinking about using the Qantas type card. I looked up some reviews & there were more than a few horror stories of cards not working properly overseas. Also last year I went to ASB to get some British pounds and they did not even try to sell me their debit card!  This is another one with bad reviews for use overseas.

However, the more frequent travellers can probably help you more.

When you top up the card it's loaded into the NZ$ account. You then have to manually move money the money to a different currency wallet.

I believe it's possible to nominate a default currency wallet which is obviously what you've done so topups are immediately converted. You obviously need to change that back to NZ$ but I can't tell you how since I can't log into my OneSmart (very long story) and to be completely honest I actually don't know why anybody would use the OneSmart card - if you want a prepaid travel card (I don't use one) you're far better off with the Travelex card (OneSmart is just a white label card offering) which is superior in pretty much every area including better currency rates.
