What do the strategy experts here think the chance of war with China is? America has sent high-ranking officials to Taiwan to give Xi the fingers. Chinese military sent an unprecedented fleet of warplanes to violate the informal buffer zone. Americans reacted with veiled threats. If I was a pathological narcissist desperately searching for a distraction to sidestep a crushing rejection at the polls, I just might be tempted to fire a missile or two at some of those juicy targets.

Edit: I used a mocking reference to the leader of China, then remembered we aren't supposed to do that. Apologies.

Is this just standard Trump BS, or does the Narcissist in Chief actually believe this?

"We don't know if they do or not, but they know that they need to say X in order to get effect Y".

Interesting to see how, in the light of the CDCs recent reversal of position and earlier politically-instituted changes of position, at the start of this people criticised the WHO because of Chinese influence whereas now it's the CDC that you have to be suspicious of because of political influence.

The New York Times - Trump Could Be Investigated for Tax Fraud, D.A. Says for First Time

today

The Manhattan district attorney’s office, which has been locked in a year-long legal battle with President Trump over obtaining his tax returns, suggested for the first time in a court filing on Monday that it had grounds to investigate him and his businesses for tax fraud.

The filing by the office of the district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., offered rare insight into the office’s investigation of the president and his business dealings, which began more than two years ago. ...

"Donald Trump gives himself an 'A+' for his handling of the coronavirus. Uh, what?"

Very soon, the United States will mark a somber milestone: 200,000 Americans will have died from the coronavirus.

How did President Donald Trump commemorate this remarkable loss of life? This way:

"We're rounding the corner," he told "Fox & Friends" of the coronavirus during an interview Monday morning. "With or without a vaccine. They hate when I say that but that's the way it is. ... We've done a phenomenal job. Not just a good job, a phenomenal job. Other than public relations, but that's because I have fake news. On public relations, I give myself a D. On the job itself, we take an A+."

"A phenomenal job."

"A+."

Dear $deity... "Why don't you wear a mask?"

All the "Evangelicals for Trump"'s responses as expected (no need to be on Instagram to watch the video): https://www.instagram.com/tv/CFX9USxls05/

It's like watching Chaser on the Streets of America. They did things like show people like the ones in the Instagram interview a world map with Australia marked North Korea and Tasmania marked South Korea and asked which country the US should attack ("gosh, I didn't know North Korea was so much bigger than South Korea"), and asking them things like "Who is in the Axis of Evil?" and "To avenge 9/11, how many Iraqi civilians should the US kill?".

Oh, and they got one of the Chaser actors to claim to be the Australian PM and filmed reactions to it.

article: Some researchers suspected that the virus could travel much farther, especially indoors and in places where people talk loudly or sing. Infamously, one infected person in March unknowingly passed the coronavirus to 52 others at a choir practice in Washington state. Similar indoor “superspreader” events added weight to the idea of an airborne threat.

A huge number of bars and venues for example. Turning down casual music could play a role in limiting spread in some cases. Unfortunately limits alcohol sales as a side effect. If they are not going to close at least it's something.

Oh and don't forget when 3 people died of bird flu, and Trump was jumping up and down saying Obama should resign. I guess 200 000 isn't such an issue to him then. It's only if it's about someone else, right?

Trump is here to make RT Great Again! (or is he?!)

November 3: Donald Trump loses US election to Joe Biden.

November 5: Trump flies to Moscow to sign a contract with RT.

This is how his first day goes.

Note: this is parody, using deepfake technology (but the job is there, Donald).

Now I'm really confused about this video mocking Trump. From RT's own website:

"RT is a state-controlled international television network funded by the Russian federal tax budget. It operates pay television channels directed to audiences outside of Russia"

Perhaps they're playing 4D chess, or perhaps they are throwing Donald under the bus.

I hope it's the later.

US isn't attacking China.  They care about the 00,000s of US citizens in Taiwan, and bases in Guam, South Korea, Okinawa.

But Mainland may decide to unify a rogue break-away province.  So would America go to war with Mainland China to save Taiwan?  Maybe, maybe not - the US 1979 Taiwan Relations Act is built around Americas choice of strategic ambiguity.  Makes mistakes more likely to happen not less.

My bet, if China decided to reincorporate Taiwan, back into the PRC, they want to do it before 2049, the 2nd Two Centuries the 100 yr anniversary of the Republic of China, which means they need 20 years for the world to forget about such a limited regional conflict, think Crimea, so they need to do it before the end of this very decade, the 2020s
