Donald: "I have fully authorized the total Declassification of any & all documents pertaining to the single greatest political CRIME in American History, the Russia Hoax. Likewise, the Hillary Clinton Email Scandal. No redactions!"

That Russiagate was all started by Hillary?

That the FBI literally tainted US intel on Russia, with Russian disinformation?

That Dem think tank employee, was under investigation by the FBI for being a Russian spy?

That the FBI relied on information from a suspected Russian spy, to spy on a US presidential adviser & never told the spy court its source was a suspected Russian spy, even though the FBI had sought the same spy warrant on that Russian spy himself just a few years earlier?

Yes indeed. That's the thing about conspiracy theories, when you try to point out the facts, it makes the conspiracy even stronger, to those that want/need to believe.

Nope.

Trump's promise to release unredacted reports doesn't have a timeline - like his promise to release his tax returns using an excuse to delay (under audit by IRS) which IRS said is no reason to not release them.

There's the other possibility - that you'll never see them until after the election, at which point if the records show he committed crimes before he was elected (and he probably did), he can't be impeached for that, and Bill Barr (acting as his Trump's personal attorney - instead of acting for the people) has decided that a sitting president can't be prosecuted.  So he does not care - if re-elected he's not going to face any consequences, after a second term the statute of limitations means it'll be difficult to lock him up.

The only reason he'd release them unredacted now is if he's had a heads up that they've been leaked and he knows they're going to be dropped like a bombshell before the election, so wants to get in first with a denial strategy.

Hillary's emails isn't a conspiracy theory.  She genuinely broke the rules.  So has half of the Trump crime syndicate - they've done exactly the same thing since then even after kicking up a song and dance about "her emails" - using personal email servers for government business.

I didn't mention the emails (the new HBO Showtime miniseries The Comey Rule is awesome entertainment BTW)

I was referring to Russiagate, that the DNC started, and Hillary, Obama, Biden were all in on.

Oh that one - where the senate report very clearly stated:

The Committee found that the Russian government engaged in an aggressive, multi-faceted effort to influence, or attempt to influence, the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.

right, its bizarre how two things can be true at once

Trump as a super-villain evil genius is a useful construct for Establishment Democrats and their media enablers, because it lets them off the hook for the results of decades of a failed neoliberal experiment

I think you need to apply a 1980 something set of corrective lenses -  2020 vision provides you with a revisionist version of history.  That "neoliberalism" was orthodox, for a while everybody believed it.  It was introduced here (NZ) by our centre-left government, the previous centre-right government had almost sent the country to bankruptcy "but with good intention".  The "rules" changed, Thatcher/Reagan neoliberalism became the norm, this also being pushed by the IMF, World Bank, G7 etc, and our centre-right government was caught - we almost ended up a Mexico or Argentina.

IMO it (neoliberalism) should have been abandoned (or voted out) as a failure in the mid '90s.  It was already clear that "trickle up" was the result.  But when politicians (and economists etc) argue strong ideological positions, they're not going to do a u-turn - they won't survive.

Sure I'd have liked to see a Bernie (or someone else) rather than Biden, but it's too soon.

And Pentagon top brass - most of the senior offices are now WFH - including the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff.

Russian and China can attack any time now...

and they could any time, but they won't, because they don't want their countries wiped off the face of the earth

All going according to Putin's plan.

The only Putin plan, was the one Hillary invented, to vilify a political opponent with scandal, in the final death throws of a terrible campaign

The Atlantic -
Il Donald

The president knows what Mussolini knew: Some audiences crave images that offer false reassurance and over-the-top displays of power.

October 6

For reasons that need no elucidation, I spent a few hours this morning watching Benito Mussolini, the dictator of Italy from 1925 to 1945, performing in the old newsreel clips that now float around the internet.

It wasn’t the verbal content I was after, just the imagery. The staged entrances. The gesticulation, the posturing, the arms raised in salute. ...

The appeal of these things hasn’t disappeared or died out.

An American president, suffering from an infectious disease, breathing hard, covered in orange pancake makeup, speaking from a balcony against the backdrop of our elegant White House and our beautiful Washington Monument - this is a scene that seems absurd, grotesque, and even frightening to many.

But not to everyone. ...

Of course the scene was staged. Of course it is cynical. And of course it is dangerous to tell Americans to act as if a virus is an opponent in a wrestling match - “Don’t let it dominate you; don’t be afraid of it. You’re going to beat it” - especially after your criminal carelessness has led to the infection of your closest colleagues, your Senate allies, your bodyguards, your wife.

But those staged pictures are what a lot of people want to see, and that false reassurance is what a lot of people want to hear.

Don’t underestimate their power.

kingdragonfly: At the very least, this COVID outbreak has likely damaged the Supreme Court judge process.

It may have taken out a couple of republicans, and I've read that only 3 Republican have to switch to scupper Amy Coney Barrett

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/oct/03/amy-coney-barrett-confirmation-senators-coronavirus

The only rule Swamp Turtle McConnell cannot change in order to make this happen is the final Senate quorum

the infected Republicans will fly on private jets to get to DC, and wear moon suits to vote, in order to push this through

How is this important/relevant to American voters, outside of Trump's base? How about if he, I don't know, did something to try and defeat coronavirus?

Christ, it's like he ignores all the important crap going on in America and focuses on the useless; crap which only appeals to/impacts him or his base, and doesn't really matter to the majority of the American voting population.

Note that this stuff may indeed be important, to someone, somewhere, sometime. But really, right now is not the time to be focused on things like this. It's his classic tactic - deflect from his failings. I find it hard to keep up.
