So, JA has been strangely absent in the last few weeks, but had time to do an interview for a UK media outlet and talked about a number of topics including morning sickness. At least she has her priorities set correctly!

Maybe if she spent less time worrying about her media commitments and preening her image internationally, her Caucus wouldn't be such a trainwreck.

OK, I agree with you that the government has had enough time to get its act together and it has failed to perform, and I agree that Jacinda Ardern has made a number of mistakes that she shouldn't have, but this comment of yours doesn't contribute anything to the discussion. It is just another random cheap shot, rather than the substantive criticism you keep claiming to specialise in. These are the kinds of remarks I object to and sometimes comment on. If you have a genuine criticism of something, by all means make  it. But this doesn't qualify. It is just mean-spirited sniping. It is like you just can't go more than two or three days without uttering yet another dig at her, whether warranted or not.

Don't you think it adds to the conversation?

ALL her attention should be on running the country right now. Every single waking second. The Government is in crisis whether you want to believe it or not, and she has no right to be attending to anything else other than that.

If she won't do it now, she will never do it. If a CEO being paid half a million dollars was behaving this way, you'd be calling it corporate corruption and calling for their head I believe.

These aren't cheap shots, and it's not a matter of me looking for something to pick on every few days, it's that the Government is acting like clueless children and it's everywhere every few days.

If you don't feel these are reasonable criticisms of her, I am lost for words.

I will try and be polite as I can, but your rudeness is overwhelming. This isnt your personal thread to throw criticism at who ever you wish. Most posters either through brickbats or bouquets at Jacinda over her performance, while you just throw brickbats at other posters including myself.

Politeness works both ways. I agreed to leave you alone if you were prepared to do the same. That seems not to have lasted long.

I am tired of this thread and this whole discussion, but I will not be hounded into silence. My criticism was not of networkn but of his post, which was just another cheap shot at Jacinda Ardern. I have every right to point that out. He then followed up with another post that, unlike the previous one, was a substantial criticism. I don't agree with everything he says but at least he is making real points. I can respect that.

What I don't understand is your need to keep chipping in with comments about my comments. Those really don't contribute anything and they certainly don't have anything to do with the thread subject. If I am rude or otherwise out of order, I'm sure the readers of this thread can work that out for themselves without you constantly pointing it out to them. If you have something to say about the subject, say it. Otherwise maybe it is better to keep your opinions to yourself.

This is all I will say about this. I think it is better that I make no further replies to you.

You know, I'm starting to see how Trump got elected. When you have article after rabid, frothing hit-job article by the likes of can't-hide-her-bias Heather du Plessis-Allen plastered as BREAKING NEWS on the Herald website, one can't help but roll one's eyes. Who the hell cares about Curran and dear old Carol having coffee? Do you think Joe Public knows why it's in the news, or cares? Nope!

Meanwhile, 4000 houses are going to be built in Mt Albert. Trams are going to be started within 2 years from Auckland CBD to Dominion Rd. Stuff is happening, I don't care what HDPA's OPINION is, and I don't know why it's BREAKING NEWS.

So much butt hurt in a single post...

Jacinda IS New Zealand’s Trump. Voted in to lead a country with practically no experience, just because a chunk of the population got bored with the status quo and decided that any change was better than continuity with a safe pair of hands.
The results speak for themselves... except in the US, their economy is growing hugely and unemployment dropping (off the back of Trump delivering on his business-friendly initiatives) while our economy is stalling thanks to massive uncertainty and lack of any leadership beyond music festivals, pop stars, photo shoots and fluff pieces like the article above...

It is disappointing when genuine, valuable policy doesn't get the attention it deserves. But that's the state of politics in NZ at the moment.

Pause and look back at the election. Little resigns and Jacinda takes over. No major policy change yet popularity skyrocketed because she is a better speaker. How does that make labour a suddenly more attractive option?

Fast forward sx months, the and Joe public is still the same, not actually interested in substance, just wants scandals and cheap thrills. And that's what the Curran issue is all about. And the Ron Mark issue, and the Marcroft issue, and the sex scandal and the list goes on... And the best way for the newspapers to get more milage out of issues like that is to write juicy editorials. If it was a left leaning one on Stuff I'd feel the same as you do atm, but you'd be salivating over it lol. So at the moment the right wingers are having their moment.

But you don't need to feel alone lamenting over the shallow state of politics these days, I feel your pain. I mean, if Joe Public had voted for the benefit of NZ and genuine virtues of policy rather than being swayed by Jacinda's deceptive values and empty aspirations we wouldn't have this frightening Trump-esque situation unfolding before our eyes.

You can't call Jacinda New Zealand's Donald Trump. Trump had zero political experience. Jacinda has been in Parliament for nine years. The closest NZ has to Trump is John Key. Promoted by National within a very short time in Parliament, to bring a "business-friendly" approach, promising tax cuts, cutting public spending to below sustainable levels (because you can't have one without the other) and bringing in many wealthy business people on his coat-tails.
New Zealand will spend many years making up for National's under-investment in core infrastructure, and no, it can't happen overnight.

That's because The Donald makes life easier for business, leaves more of people's earnings in their own pockets to spend on their families and expects the poor to get off their behinds and make an effort and JA.....doesn't.

I've seen this perception trotted out a lot. You have to be able to sell your policies. A lot of people think it was all down to Jacindamania, that the policies were the same and the only reason Labour went up was because of her.

Look at it from the other angle though, many people liked their policies and agreed with them but didn't like Andrew Little. Of course, if you are voting for National regardless then of course you are going to claim it's all down to the "lipstick on a pig" effect, rather than the policies you support not having as much support as you think.

That's a disgraceful comment. Honestly. I shake my head at your attempts to minimize ongoing poor behaviour by this coalition. Just because average Joe doesn't understand why it's a problem, doesn't mean it's NOT a problem. Curran has apologised to JA, why would she do this if she did nothing wrong.
