ELON MUSK ANNOUNCES PURCHASE OF RON DESANTIS

AUSTIN (The Borowitz Report)—Elon Musk has revealed that he intends to purchase the Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis.

The Tesla C.E.O. said that he already had financing lined up to acquire the Republican Presidential hopeful and that he planned to complete the transaction well before the 2024 election.

There could be bumps in the road ahead, however, as the billionaire indicated that this time he would be doing a full “due diligence” on DeSantis before the acquisition is finalized.

The Republican strategist Harland Dorrinson warned that a closer look at the Florida Governor might give Musk cold feet. “This whole thing could go south if it turns out, as many suspect, that DeSantis is actually one of Musk's early AI experiments,” he said.

If you look at the state of affairs they're aiming for, or at least look ahead further than the one step they're looking at, the country they're aiming to live in is Somalia. Little to no state control (or services, which they're ignoring), little to no taxes, few to no civil rights for anyone who doesn't have guns, and in general whoever has the guns makes the rules.

Maybe all those morons should move there then? Since it would be so much more suitable to their selfish needs and "freedoms". The orange buffoon can be king of their empire!

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Just reading that now. Really...some Republicans need to learn when to just let s--t go. Trump lost, it was almost 2 years ago, you have another election in 2 years, why aren't you looking forward on how to win that one?

They are looking forward to how to win that one, by whatever means necessary. That's the whole problem.

Deep in the heart of Texas ...

A Donald Trump cutout at Patriot Mobile display at the Republican Party of Texas convention at George R. Brown Convention Center on June 16 in Houston.

EDIT

and ... Patriot Mobile Sponsors the National Rifle Association (NRA) Annual Meeting

... where the NRA is described as "America’s longest-standing civil rights organization"  🙄

I tried to post in that thread but the formatting looked weird in Firefox and wouldn't let me post anything :(

I was going to say, while the Texas Republican Party has passed a thing to essentially not accept the election results, does it mean anything? The election has long been and gone.

They must be pretty desperate to get back into power, I don't remember the Democrats ever doing anything like this, unless I missed something.

Here's a look at what could happen if the Republicans try another coup in 2024 (and it works):

re Patriot Mobile, I recall seeing a review for a handset somewhere (might have been last year) that was some stock handset with all kinds of Trump-y crappy bloatware loaded as default when you got. This is different though, this is more like an MNVO using T-Mobile. Why would you subscribe to a provider though based purely on their religious or political beliefs? Who really cares?

Saw a comment online which goes a long way to explain historic and current division in the US - "the South has not got over losing the civil war".

I'm all for letting people determine their own future but the northern states would not want a neighbour that is an undemocratic theocracy.

The NY Times - Jan. 6 Hearing Will Highlight Trump’s Pressure Campaign on State Officials

today

WASHINGTON -  At its fourth hearing this month, scheduled for 1 p.m., the committee will seek to demonstrate what has been a repeated point of emphasis for the panel: that Mr. Trump knew - or should have known - that his lies about a stolen election, and the plans he pursued to stay in office, were wrong, but that he pushed ahead with them anyway.

The Themes of the Jan. 6 House Committee Hearings:

  1.  Day One:  During the first hearing, the panel presented a gripping story with a sprawling cast of characters, but only three main players: Mr. Trump, the Proud Boys and a Capitol Police officer.

  2.  Day Two:  In its second hearing, the committee showed how Mr. Trump ignored aides and advisers in declaring victory prematurely and relentlessly pressing claims of fraud he was told were wrong.

  3.  Day Three:  Mr. Trump pressured Vice President Mike Pence to go along with a plan to overturn his loss even after he was told it was illegal, according to testimony laid out by the panel during the third hearing.
