MSNBC opinion on Don Lemon career retrospective

MSNBC: On Monday, after 17 years at CNN, Don Lemon said that the network had fired him. Lemon joined that network after anchoring at NBC Chicago and working as a correspondent for NBC News, the “TODAY” show and “NBC Nightly News.” It was a shocking fall from grace for the star anchor. Lemon had built up a loyal following as one of the few Black and queer anchors in prime-time cable news, but he had recently been accused of a pattern of on-air sexism as well as serious gender-based harassment behind the scenes of his shows. Unlike the firing of Tucker Carlson, his evolving legacy feels a little bit more complicated,

The My Pillow guy shows how easily he gets sucked in 😃😄

LOL, "the real president". Yes, the one who really lost. No, really.

And "hacking into our phones"? Spare me.

Quickymart, I'm a big fan of your posts,

Mike proves Lincoln's adage "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt."

Ron Blackman, aka Macron, prank was a wasted opportunity. He barely squeaked out his web address. Quite frankly calling this a "prank" stretches the definition. The effect was he fooled the TV show's intern.

At least, Jimmy Kimmel got Mike Lindell to interview in a claw machine.

That's actually pretty funny. If real (and it looks quite realistic), it's even more impressive - especially since Kimmel asks him some pretty obvious questions and he just goes ahead and answers everything totally oblivious to how much of a fool he's making of himself. If that is really him though, credit to Lindell for being such a good sport and going along with it.

And glad you like my posts, I try to find the more interesting ones 🙂

The NY Times - George Santos, Instead of Shrinking From the Spotlight, Steps Into It

Mr. Santos seems to be testing whether his notoriety will translate into a form of celebrity, if not eventual acceptance.

29 April 2023

As he strode into a [Washington] bar packed with margarita-sipping young Republicans, Representative George Santos of New York looked like a man who had finally gotten what he had always wanted ...

For eight minutes, Mr. Santos had something rare: an invitation to speak. ...

He offered advice about running for office ... and he declared, with no apparent sense of irony, that “the truth will set you free.”

But he knew what would give his audience the biggest rise.

I’m not going anywhere,” he declared. “You’re going to have to drag my dead, cold body out of this institution.”

In case you're wondering about "my cold dead hands / body" origins, it's as American as mass shootings.

I don't know who I would find more worrying for the US - President De Santis or President Kennedy (V2.0).

I read a very plausible fiction story once in which an incredible chain of not-impossible circumstances leads to someone being executed for a parking violation. I look forward to a clever writer producing a not-impossible scenario in which George Santos becomes president of the USA.

The NY Times - Best of Late Night

Seth Meyers Speculates About Why Fox Dumped Tucker Carlson

“Fox couldn’t have cared less when Tucker was saying vulgar, offensive stuff on television about other people, but when he said it in private about Fox News executives, they were suddenly outraged.” — SETH MEYERS

“I have no idea why he got fired. Fox had no problem with his cruelty, racism and paranoid conspiracy theories, so I doubt he got fired for that.
I mean, firing Tucker for racism now - after tolerating it for so long - would be like canceling ‘Sesame Street’ because you just found out they were puppets.” — SETH MEYERS

“Whenever something really big happens that involves Fox News, the last people to hear about it are usually the people who watch Fox News. The network tends to hide news about itself from its own viewers.
Last night there were probably a bunch of 80-year-olds watching substitute host Brian Kilmeade, saying, ‘Tucker looks different now. ’” — SETH MEYERS

Some interesting points here re Carlson, especially from the anti-anti-crowd - whataboutism at its finest there.
