The first article is positive on Biden's chances.

It notes Biden's campaign was almost entirely 'virtual' during the pandemic, and the Biden campaign won by a large margin. Trump campaigned in person everywhere and lost.

The issues will be different and Biden has the disadvantage of being the incumbent. Trump has the disadvantage of a shrinking base. DeSantis has a similar base although he has new guy advantage and some maneuverability.

Or, to put it another way, you've got three no-hopers battling it out over who gets to be the one to try and steer a sinking ship.

Trump and DeSantis are not in the least bit climate friendly that's for sure.

I think a big factor last time was Trump's poor handling of the pandemic; he said so many ridiculous things (remember "oh in April it all just disappears", "it's just one person, nothing to worry about" and "we're turning the corner"?) I think bs like that sunk him as the death toll slowly - but very visibly - mounted up. Meanwhile Biden did most of his campaigning (virtually) from his basement, and mostly kept his head down and just let Trump make a complete knob of himself endlessly re the pandemic, which I feel worked to the former's advantage.

I've often thought that if coronavirus hadn't happened in 2020, Trump probably would have won a second term.

You may have a good point. At the same time Trump has made it well known that is his exact same strategy for almost anything.

It's hard to have sympathy for the willfully ignorant rush to a place that's already being badly affected by climate change.

Last month there was a "1 in 2,000 year" flood in Fort Lauderdale.

A tornado scale was introduced in 1971 by Ted Fujita. He created a classification called "F6", the "inconceivable tornado". There's been two in the US.

DeSantis should be saying "Florida is the place where awake goes to die."

FOX REPLACES TUCKER CARLSON WITH LYING CHATBOT

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report)—Fox News has announced that it has replaced Tucker Carlson with a state-of-the-art lying Chatbot.

In a brief statement, the Fox chairman Rupert Murdoch thanked Carlson for his service but said that he had been “rendered obsolete by swift advances in lying technology.”

A dry run of the Chatbot showed it emitting nine lies per minute, besting Carlson’s average of eight.

News of the Chatbot’s arrival sent shock waves down the corridors of Fox’s midtown Manhattan headquarters. “I’ll be next,” a reportedly shaken Sean Hannity said.

This is going to be a nasty trial. The Trump's rape defense attorney is pulling out all stops.

In his opening arguments, he contradicted himself by says it never happened.

He also said there's no evidence, conveniently forgetting the semen stain dress, which Trump refused to give a DNA sample.

Then he implied "she asked for it" by letting Trump into the dressing room. A juror nodded approval at the second statement

New York Times: The Civil Rape Case Against Donald Trump Goes to Trial

In a Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday, a jury began hearing E. Jean Carroll’s allegation that former President Donald J. Trump raped her more than two decades ago in a department store dressing room, in a proceeding that seeks to apply the accountability of the #MeToo era to a dominating political figure.

The trial in Federal District Court in Manhattan, expected to last one to two weeks, stems from a lawsuit and will take place amid a barrage of legal action aimed at Mr. Trump, who is running to regain the presidency and arguing that the suits and investigations are meant to drag him down.
