Although the special counsel report in to Bidens handling of classified documents is good news in that there will be no prosecution the bad news is it paints a very poor picture of his mental faculties.

Apparently when interviewed he couldn't remember important dates and came across as vague and lacking in mental acuity.

Trump has been doing something similar too.

Leads me to ask is there no else who could run? I can see why a lot of Americans aren't too happy about a 2020 rematch.

Also, Supreme Court poses an interesting question: https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2024/02/08/trump-supreme-court/john-roberts-plain-consequences-00140421

I feel at this point given Trumps support in the GOP, odds on the Supreme Court will rule in his behalf with regards to eligibility and Biden's cognitive decline Trump will win nomination and will win the presidency unless and outlyer pops up in the next few weeks. And of course why not push the planet further into the crap.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

You play the cards you are delt.

1/ A would be dictator out for revenge and destruction of that which restrains him.
Surrounded by a group that has worked out the restraints to attack.
This dictator has in addition a family that might continue if they want to stay out of jail.
That sweet presidential immunity I shall crown myself with.
Plus power of pardons for sale.

2/ Someone who is mostly harmless and importantly principled such that they will leave gracefully.
They will not select a rabid cabinet and administration bent on leadership for life.
So will get better quality advice.
Maybe a partisan investigation is over egging it a bit having to give their MAGAs something.
Thier impeachment investigation that still can't find a reason.
Just seem to turnup witnesses saying there is no evidence of anything.
Even having Biden's tax returns which as every candidate except Trump has given freely to the people.
However the measure of basic decentness is stark, and one has a respect for democracy the other does not.

So you have one bent on destruction and pulling up drawbridge after them and declaring a new North Korea.
Another who will leave office gracefully after not going on a revenge rampage, and probably boring.

A vote for political boredom seems a good vote right now.
After that then battle will be a new generation, hopefully no Jnr  Trumps or Ramaswamies involved.

House vote is important too.

The special counsel report only puts into words what everybody is seeing with their own eyes.

Biden used a variation of the Reagan defence can't remember - don't recall the details.

On the plus side for Biden it was his team that discovered the few files and acted in accordance with the law to notify and return immediately.

Compared to the other guy's defense they're all mine all mine and instructing that team to move stacks and stacks of documents from room to room to actively avoid discovery by investigators..

Oh but the MAGA crowd conveniently overlook what Trump did and point the finger at Biden like he's the worst criminal in world 🙄

Whataboutism and deflection is a big part of Trump's "show" to convince the masses he's really not so bad and the other guy is so much worse, and the MAGA morons lap it up. Pathetic really.

Noticed that too, it's going to be far more impactful than whether he kept a few notes relating to classified information. He sounds like Reagan towards the end of his second term.

No, he won't. Various members of his own party have been begging him to step aside and let someone younger and more capable in, but he's refused. So I'd say:

2. A doddering old man determined to cling to power no matter what the cost.

Probably a little unfair, more likely

:Totally convinced that he's the only one who can beat MAGA-man, so has to stay whatever the personal cost.....

If Biden's mental faculties are declining as badly as they appear to be, are the Democrats really going to be able to prop him up until Jan 2029 in the event he wins the election?

If he were required to stand down from the presidency mid term due to this it would be a very bad look for the Democrats having run a candidate they almost certainly knew wasn't up to the task.

Even putting possible questions around his mental faculties aside, if he wins he'll be 86 at the end of his second term. It's not ageist to make the very obvious statement that even the healthiest octogenarian doesn't have nearly the mental or physical capacity they did when the were younger. It's just crazy to me.

It's not like Trump's a spring chicken either of course.

I totally disagree. Nobody is rallying behind Biden, they are rallying against Trump. The Dems could run almost anyone and they'd be at least as successful against Trump as Biden will be (probably more). Imagine if they ran a younger more charismatic candidate that people could actually get behind.

In 2020 Biden didn't win, Trump lost. 2024 will be the same, only this time Trump may not lose.

EDIT: I think I misunderstood, did you mean that Biden himself is convinced he's the only one who can beat Trump? If he genuinely believes that then he's definitely losing his faculties.

Supreme Court Judge John Roberts is a conservative and an institutionalist.

I don't remember Biden leading an insurrection, getting 7 people killed, and when privately asked about the hangman gallows said his Vice President deserves to be hung.

I guess state laws and state rights only apply to people who are not ex-presidents.

Yes, Biden's convinced he's the only one who can beat Trump...

He's not totally mistaken though, the "younger more charismatic" Dems all tend to be from the liberal left of the party...

He believes that he's the only on who can get the support of "middle America"  - which you need to do to become president,

Turning out huge number of left leaning NYers and Californians doesn't help win the White House,

You only need 50% in those States to get their Electoral college votes, better you also scoop up some States like Ohio and others in the Midwest as well...
