The Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis indicted Trump in August in a sprawling criminal case alleging Trump conspired to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results.

She has had a romance with Nathan Wade who works on her team. At worst, she may have financially benefited from his appointment. This is not a conflict of interest, as lawyers for Trump’s co-defendants allege. While unseemly, it is completely unrelated to Trump's trial.

It's a HR matter, nothing more. Trump attorneys are seeking to disqualify Willis and her entire office from the case.

The Advocate: Tristan Snell, a lawyer who already beat Trump, says that Willis will survive a ‘travesty of justice’ trial

For the past few days, I have had the opportunity to talk with Tristan Snell, the author of the new book Taking Down Trump: 12 Rules for Prosecuting Donald Trump by Someone Who Did It Successfully. Snell was assistant attorney general for New York State, where he successfully helped lead the investigation and settlement of the civil case against Trump University that resulted in a $25 million payout to students who said they were duped.

If anyone knows how former President Donald Trump operates, it would be Snell, and to say that he’s slightly miffed about the Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis misconduct trial taking place would be an understatement.

“It’s ridiculous,” Snell said during a phone call after the first day of testimony ended. “ I think the whole thing is a textbook Trump dirty tricks smear. It's meant to intimidate and bully District Attorney Wilis and make her look bad in front of the Georgia residents of Fulton County from which the jury will be drawn. They are trying to dirty up that jury pool.”

Snell said the attack on Willis reminds him of one the big cases against [American mafioso and boss of the Gambino crime family in New York City] John Gotti, when he and his team of lawyers went after one of the prosecutors. “They went after a female federal prosecutor from the Southern District of New York, and they went completely berserk on her for all sorts of things in her personal life during the trial. And unfortunately, the judge just let it happen.”

While Snell says that Wilis will survive this “unnecessary distraction” there are other questions that need to be answered, including why the judge called for a trial.

“This is a Fulton County HR issue, not something for the courtroom. They're making a mockery out of justice. It’s an absolute travesty that this hearing is being held, and that it’s nationally televised. He’s allowed the courtroom to be turned into a kangaroo court for the benefit of Trump and his legal team.”

Watch the entire 22m clip for a clear and concise explanation of how a certain section of the US justice system works, plus details of the smear campaign against Fani Willis being waged by Trump and his criminal lackies and why it wll be dismissed. Glenn Kirschner is a straight-up ex-prosecutor and really knows his stuff.

The gold sneakers are limited to 1000 and they've all sold out. At $400 each he's going to have to sell a lot more than sneakers and the other assorted crap on his website 😂 Selling some property is a tantalising prospect.

Sneakers, its the Casino of collectables.
Like NFTs, but at least you get to look a physical example of your folly.

Appeal.
Its been said that its normal in appeal for amounts to be reduced, sometimes significantly, just to get agreement for quick payment.
Court staff may also not want to live under equivalent of witness protection.
Trump will be energizing his followers to increase this leverage.

Yeh I know we are talking about Trump and quick payment in same context.

He does have Billionaire friends/vultures who may put up bond.
If they get placed over a sufficient value of properties.

Bond may also be shared amongst influence peddlers as long as Trump has a viable path to Presidency.
Russia , Saudi, and China have Oligarchs and Wealthy on their, do us a favor, or extensions of state list.
They can look like independent rich people just helping other rich people.

That's why an Oligarch is so useful, they can get deeply embedded.
Few question why they buy or invest in certain things as that's what rich do.

If Trump stumbles in being seen as Presidential candidate, things might change.

Fox News clowns lose their minds about Trump ranking as worst president in history.

"Jesse talks about a recent ranking of all U.S. Presidents on which Fox News reported. Jesse reads comments from Fox News viewers about their thoughts and outrage over Donald Trump's LAST PLACE RANKING!!!"

Some terminology

gainsaid: deny or contradict (a fact or statement).
venial sin: a lesser sin.
mortal sin: a major sin that cuts the sinner off from God's sanctifying grace until it is repented
Bernard Madoff: mastermind of the fraud in history, worth an estimated $65 billion.
DOJ: Department of Justice

in the blue corner, raise your voices, dear spectators! Let them echo through eternity. For in this corner, we have witnessed not just a fight, but a legend reborn, Judge Arthur Engoron

"The English poet Alexander Pope (1688-1744) first declared, 'To err is human, to forgive is divine.' Defendants apparently are of a different mind.

After some four years of investigation and litigation, the only error (“inadvertent,” of course) that they acknowledge is the tripling of the size of the Trump Tower Penthouse, which cannot be gainsaid.

Their complete lack of contrition and remorse borders on pathological. They are accused only of inflating asset values to make more money. The documents prove this over and over again.

This is a venial sin, not a mortal sin. Defendants did not commit murder or arson. They did not rob a bank at gunpoint. Donald Trump is not Bernard Madoff.

Yet, defendants are incapable of admitting the error of their ways. Instead, they adopt a 'See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil' posture that the evidence belies."

Ladies and gentlemen, in the red corner, we had the undefeated marvel, the former champion of invincibility Trump. For tonight, the Invincible Echo learned that even stars can burn out.

"Expected something like this, but not for the amount. A very dishonest man. A man that has been overturned already on this case four times. A crooked New York state judge just ruled me. I have to pay a fine of $355 million for having built the perfect company. Great cash, great building, great everything. It affects New York. It is mostly talking about New York, where we have a totally corrupt attorney general. She campaigned on the fact that 'I will get Trump, I will get Trump. Everybody is saying that these days. They are all saying that. We will be appealing.

This is not Russia, this is China. This is the same game.

All comes out to the DOJ, all comes out to Biden, a witchhunt to get political, opponents, it is happening right here in our country. Thank you very much. We will stop it. You have my word, thank you very much. "

https://www.amazon.com/Taking-Down-Trump-Prosecuting-Successfully/dp/168589125X >> just finished reading this. A very interesting read although unfortunately it's almost immediately out-of-date discussing Trump's recent cases (this was written in November 2023) however it mostly covers the successful prosecution that was made against Trump's "university" back in 2016.

Essentially the walls are closing in around him and this is why he is constantly fundraising - he's not running for president again because he gives a stuff about America, he's doing it to avoid accountability for the bad things he's done; something he's been doing his entire life. However, his options to do this are now starting to rapidly run out. There are only so many lawyers in the world who will work for free for the worst witness to testify on the stand as he just can't help himself but endlessly dig himself deeper and deeper into crap.

Love the presentation, "I know it's shocking that there are actual people who read who are Fox news audience members". In the meantime he's desperately trying to keep a straight face.

Being a loser, and reputational damage from lawsuits explains Trump's donor losses.

Granted cult members will always follow a cult leader, even onto death.

In US politics, more money = winning; less money = losing.

This particularly holds true for last week of election.

So doubly bad for Trump as money is hemorrhaging into his legal bills instead of campaign.

Only hope is Trump's daughter-in-law Lara Trump getting control of Republican purse strings, to Co-Chair the RNC.

Financial Times: Donald Trump’s donor numbers fall by 200,000 compared with 2019

Donald Trump entered the 2024 election year with about 200,000 fewer donors than in the previous presidential campaign four years ago, raising questions about his fundraising machine just as legal bills eat into his war chest.

The Trump campaign and affiliated political action committees attracted roughly 516,000 donors in the second half of last year, compared with 740,000 at the same stage of his last race for the White House, according to Financial Times analysis of the latest data.

Trump and affiliated groups raised $189m from his donors in 2023, while Biden drew in $202m from a smaller donor base.

NPR: Trump faces some half a billion dollars in legal penalties. How will he pay them?

Former President Donald Trump owes legal penalties totaling hundreds of millions of dollars in two civil cases recently decided in New York, raising questions about how he'll pay the staggering amount.

The short answer is that Trump, whose political persona is tied to his career as a wealthy businessman, will either pay himself or have other entities post bond on his behalf.

...
The judge approved the continued oversight by an independent monitor, a former federal judge who basically has veto power over many Trump Organization actions, and required the Trump Organization to hire a new compliance officer.

He also temporarily banned Trump and his two eldest sons from leading their own businesses or applying for financing from any institution that does business in New York.

That "obviously limits the universe of potential financers for things like the bond, but also for additional financing for any of the Trump ventures," Wheaton explained.
