It's quite comical reading the dire predictions in the event of a Trump win. You can certainly see who gets their opinions issued to them by the morally corrupt MSM.

Can you give any examples of this moral corruption you speak of?

MSNBC, CNN, Huffington Post, Washington Post, New York Times... where does it end?

God Bless Hannity and Fox News :)

Well I was asking for specific examples rather than a simple list of news organisations. I'll wait for cadman on that one.

Fox News is the number one cable news channel in the USA. You can't get more mainstream than that.

Sean Hanity has a show on Fox, as far as I know it's an opinion show. Once again, Fox is number one and Hanity is right up there.

Fox News???? That's entertainment not news

Is there an "ignore user" function available for those of us who don't wish to see the diatribe from the Trump apologists?

Or for those of us who just refuse to hear opinions we don't agree with?

I think thats a fair call. Its fine if some like Trump and some don't, discuss it. What I don't like here, is one who supports one side (of any debate) takes his/her side as the correct side, therefore the others are idiots, or described in a similar manner. We talk of democracy at times here in this thread, yet that isn't always the case by some taking their side as correct and the other is wrong. Its actually "I believe this, you believe that"

There actually is a serious problem with that "both sides of the debate" argument.

On Trump's side is racism, sexism, lying, threats of vengeance.  He crosses the line on what my ancestors fought and died to protect.  Yours too I expect.  That he's a racist, misogynist liar is NOT up for debate - it's simple fact supported by a vast amount of evidence - much of it directly from Trump.

Apologists made the same mistake with Hitler.  You could (and many did) "debate" that Hitler was good for the economy, reduced smoking rates, supported the arts, "Made Germany Great Again" - for a while.

The other side (Trump supporters) might not be "idiots".  Denying what Trump actually is as a starting point for "debate" is however ludicrously stupid.

That being said, let's debate it.

I've not heard of a waning in his support but by all means, enlighten us.

Yeah that's interesting. It shows how divisive Trump is. That's very unusual for a president.

Edit: it is in fact unprecedented.

May I suggest that closer to - or on the 20th - another thread is started, and in that thread the same "exemption to FUG - Godwin's Law rule" applies.

Reason for that is that I have the feeling that Trump is going to have to be extremely "creative" shall we say, if he's going to hold whatever level of public support he still has - and to avoid rebellion within the GOP.
He's going to have to be a "strong man" once sworn in. That means delivering on his promises. Some of his promises are unconstitutional. Some of the most deeply conservative republicans are constitutional textualists or originalists.  Trump is also going to be under pressure to move fast.

I make no predictions beyond "fireworks" - it's going to be very interesting.

gzt: That's a good question. While Fred99 is checking sources, you can explain to me why you believe the mainstream media is morally corrupt. It's a serious question.

Both have an agenda and it's become acceptable for them to throw whatever they want into the wind regardless of any substantial backing.  There's a saying in the legal arena; A skunk having entered the courtroom and subsequently removed, none can deny it's smell.  It means, you can taint logic and reason with foul information and it cannot be forgotten.  It's nothing new but, it's far more prevalent today.

The GOP had their chance to prevent him from taking office, and declined the opportunity. It's magnitudes harder to remove a sitting President than refuse to allow a candidate to have the nomination.

I can guess you would put the many allegations of Trump's sexual assaults and inappropriate behaviour in that category:

http://nymag.com/thecut/2016/10/all-the-women-accusing-trump-of-rape-sexual-assault.html

That list was current in October it's likely a few more came forward since then. These are not unsubstantiated rumors, these are sourced reports. News organisations would not be fulfilling thier responsibility to the public if they did not report these allegations.

Allegations are nothing more than an accusation of wrong-doing. I am not making a claim one way or the other, but don't confuse an allegation with an actual crime having been committed because one does not require the other!

Rolf Harris, Bill Cosby.

Trump's misogyny and objectification of women. You do realise what kind of "man" we're talking about here?

We don't even need to debate whether Trump did in fact behave as per many of his accusers asserted. We know from his own unguarded words that he thinks sexual assault and sexual harassment of women is okay.

Yes they did, and the cowards decided to cede to a populist megalomaniac's hate-preaching appeal to a class of uneducated losers he was conning - rather than face certain defeat.

ROFL.  That was the basis for Trump's entire campaign - he had nothing else.

In the worldview of Trump supporters and apologists, this is absolutely fine. You're in the political game to win and if enough people support genocide, for example, who are politicians to argue? The majority have spoken! The young f****rs didn't vote -- let them suffer!

Ah well, he's in good company with Kennedy and Clinton then.  BTW, did you see the Swedish woman he allegedly groped?  Woah!  Go Donald :)
