https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2023/05/26/my-pillow-mike-lindell-investigation-00097903 >> an interview with the guy who won $5m from deplorable MyFraud guy Mike Lindell, only to have him now turn around and refuse to pay, despite proving Lindell's data he provided that "proved" the election was fraudulent was meaningless.

The Washington Post - More Oath Keepers convicted with Rhodes for Jan. 6 attack are sentenced

26 May 2023

A self-styled militia leader and bar owner from Ohio and a former welder from Florida were sentenced to 8½ years and 4 years in prison Friday for joining Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes in disrupting Congress’s confirmation of Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential election victory in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

Army veterans Jessica Watkins and Kenneth Harrelson were acquitted of seditious conspiracy but convicted on other felony counts in November at trial with Rhodes and his on-the-ground leader, Kelly Meggs.

Sedition in America law:

"Advocating overthrow of Government.

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both

Shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction."

Even though those traitors didn't get sentenced for sedition, remember the Oath Keepers leader did get a sedition sentence.

Oath Keepers leader said Trump "will need us and our rifles"

Oath Keepers believed President Trump would federalize them on Jan. 6.

They'll also argue that Trump could have used the Insurrection Act to make them a federal militia.

Now it's time for the true leader Trump to get his time in prison.

A rare impeachment case in Texas in 1917 involved Gov. James E. Ferguson, who was known as Pa and was removed from office after a three-week Senate trial.

The NY Times - Texas House Votes to Impeach Ken Paxton

breaking

Lawmakers in the Texas House voted on Saturday to impeach Ken Paxton, the state’s Republican attorney general, temporarily removing him from office over charges that he had used his elected position to benefit himself and a campaign donor.

The extraordinary vote, which came after several hours of debate, was one of the few ever taken in the Texas Capitol and the first impeachment of a statewide office holder since 1917. [see above]

It comes after a bipartisan House committee, led by Republicans, filed 20 articles of impeachment * against Mr. Paxton this week, detailing actions that the panel unanimously had decided made him unfit for office. ...

The final vote was 121 members in favor of impeachment and 23 against, with two abstaining.

*   EDIT  The 20 articles accuse Paxton of improperly aiding a wealthy political donor, conducting a sham investigation against whistleblowers in his office whom he fired, and covering up his wrongdoing in a separate federal securities fraud case against him.

These two are pretty deplorable (and now, poorer) 😀

Along with all their other deplorable aspects, MAGA Republicans are just really really bad, sour losers. It must be miserable playing a baseball game with them at a summer 4th of July picnic.

Tara Reade, who accused Joe Biden of sexual assault, defects to Russia | US news | The Guardian

“I’m still kind of in a daze a bit but I feel very good,” Reade told Sputnik, a Russian press outlet supportive of President Vladimir Putin, while sitting with Maria Butina, a convicted Russian agent jailed in the US but now a member of parliament in Russia.

Sitting next to Butina, Reade said: “I just really so appreciate Maria and everyone who’s been giving me [protection] at a time when it’s been very difficult to know if I’m safe or not.

“I just didn’t want to walk home and walk into a cage or be killed, which is basically my two choices.”

I mean... She doesn't sound crazy, at all. No, I am sure...

That assault was never proved though, was it? I don't remember it going to court, like one of Trump's (many assaults) did.

A BBC article:

She said she left the US after a Republican politician told her she was in physical danger.

Not suspicious. Not at all. A "Republican politician" tells you to skip the country?

Why is she not seeking her day in court, instead doing all this political move, getting publicity, etc?

Also:

"[I'd] like to apply for citizenship in Russia, from the president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin... I do promise to be a good citizen," Ms Reade said, adding that she hoped to keep her US citizenship.

All this wave of crazy Americans saying they want to be in Russia rather than the USA sound to me... Very un-American.

I don't think she would be allowed dual citizenship with the US and Russia, surely?

America doesn't have a problem with it. Not sure about Russia.

Russian dual citizenship is allowed only with Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

The least she could do would be steal a fighter plane, as a present for Putin.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_W._Carr#Focke_Wulf_incident

On November 2nd 1944, Carr took off on a mission and was shot down by flak while strafing ground targets over Czechoslovakia. He bailed out and landed near a Luftwaffe field with the intent of surrendering to the Luftwaffe troops, but it was becoming dark just as he got there. From the trees he watched as two mechanics fueled up an FW 190, and hatched a daring plan to escape by stealing that plane.

Near dawn he snuck out and jumped in the cockpit. Through experimentation, Carr was able to start the plane, and with Luftwaffe personnel already coming out to see what was going on he gunned it across a corner of the field on a path that had him pass between two hangars before he was airborne.

Managing to make it back to his home field in France, Carr was unable to lower the landing gear and was forced to make a belly up landing. Upon landing, he was presumed to be a hostile German pilot by the armed personnel at the airfield, until he was recognised by his group commander George R. Bickel.
