If this is truly happening, then it is Dictatorship by any other name!

Maybe a benevolent dictatorship. Either way, a dictatorship. ☹️

Goodbye billions in tourist $$$$, which could be used in Trumps up and coming 1 Trillion dollar defence budget or the $175 billion investment to “fully secure the border,” in the proposed fiscal year 2026 budget.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Anecdotal and secondhand.

But having said that, I.can agree nothing has boded well for tourism in USA recently.

https://theconversation.com/tourism-to-the-us-is-tanking-flight-centre-is-facing-a-100m-hit-as-a-result-255498

Our last holiday we took (9 of us including 2 grandkids) to the USA last August, The flight centre wanted $1000 to do the bookings.

We did it ourselves. Airlines supply a LOT of help for free and they are far more knowledgeable about their products than travel agents.

Trump/USA inflation question.

Lets say a good or service is measured by the CPI Index.

Its Made in China

So, the price goes up due to 145% tariffs, maybe a little if the manufacturer absorbs some, maybe a lot if they dont. This will add to the CPI

Another example is where the Chinese good doesnt get to USA as its not worth it. So the US citizen buys the US equivalent. The US equivalent has a higher  price, but there is NO CPI inflation effect as that higher price hasn't increased.

Great. But the fact is, the US consumer is paying more for the US good that replaces the Chinese good, which will be much more expensive. This scenario shows a ZERO effect on the CPI but a very real effect on the consumers actual and personal CPI. But it wont be measured by the US CPI or the US or global media as it doesnt exist in todays metrics. It will manifest itself in the US consumers spending the same amount of funds, but getting less goods. It may also show growth in US manufacturing. But at the consumer level its a huge fail.

The orange buffoon succeeds in screwing up another election for the right-win, after Labour wins another term in Australia and people turn their backs on Trumpism:

Good grief!

Reuters - Trump posts AI-generated photo of himself as pope

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida, May 2 - President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated photo showing himself as the pope ahead of this week's gathering of cardinals to choose a new leader of the 1.4-billion-strong Catholic Church, and just days after he joked he would "like to be pope".

Trump, who is not a Catholic and does not attend church regularly, posted the image on his Truth Social platform late on Friday, less than a week after attending the funeral of Pope Francis ...

Delusions of grandeur.  😒

I am in favour of this. The guys in the Vatican have been in the business for 2000 years and have always found ways and means to ‘correct something that's gone wrong.’ 😁

In one way.

Trump does have more of an argument to be in the conclave than the Bishops that USA is sending.
He did win the Catholic vote, something these Bishops have not done.
The reason he attended the funeral was because Catholics support him, according to him.

Maybe how Vance after being rebuffed by a Pope and meeting with functionary,
got a meeting with an ill and fragile Pope who died shortly after.
We represent US Catholics how dare you be too ill to meet me.

I daresay there is an argument that Trump is the only one that the congregation has selected.

There have been worse Popes. One time Popes were more a political power.

Be careful who you vote for. You might get what your worst inclinations want.

https://www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-immigration-policy-is-a-failure-built-on-lies

A detailed look at Trump's immigration/deportation bs, and how it's not a win (at all):

So the immigration crackdown can in no way be called a success. It has depressed tourism, made a mockery of the rule of law, and tarnished our global reputation—and for what? Most of those removed were probably no threat to anyone, but they were working, paying taxes, caring for children, and going to church. Sure, a few were doubtless criminals. But as Judge Terry Doughty put it in a ruling in one Trump deportation case, “The Government contends that this is all okay. . . . But the Court doesn’t know that.”

You donate $270 million through various channels to Trump, and suddenly your car company is exempt from Trump's automotive tariffs.

The world is full of strange coincidence since Trump became El Presidente Magnifico.

Why Elon Musk's Tesla is the only car company exempt from Trump's automotive tariffs: Yahoo

Elon Musk’s car company Tesla is set to benefit massively compared to other car companies following Trump’s latest tariff move.

Since April 2, Donald Trump has been telling the world how his ‘liberation day’ and economic plans will ultimately be beneficial for Americans.

However ahead of it, the White House made it clear that the Trump administration had big plans for tariffs that would impact the automotive industry.

Back in late March, the administration announced 25 percent tariff on imports of 'automobiles and certain automobile parts'.

And in the latest move, the White House has revealed that there is a way for car manufacturers to be exempt from the tariffs, and this just so happens to benefit Elon Musk’s car company Tesla.

Well he does
  • like hanging out with the fellow septuagenarians and octogenarians
  • gold in his interior design
  • idolatry
  • keeping close company with pedophiles

I'm much less (seriously) concerned about the Pope than I am about this.
