The Sunday Times - ‘Sack me if you dare,’ Johnson will tell Queen
breaking
The Speaker, John Bercow, has been proposed as a national unity leader.
Boris Johnson will dare the Queen to sack him rather than resign as prime minister in an attempt to drive through Brexit on October 31, cabinet ministers have revealed.
In an unprecedented escalation of the constitutional crisis, senior aides said Johnson would not stand aside if his proposals were rejected by Brussels and MPs tried to unseat him to avert a no-deal Brexit.
They said Johnson was prepared to “squat” in Downing Street even if MPs declare no confidence in his government and agree a caretaker prime minister to replace him. ...
All this is straight out of the Trump playbook. 😕
God save our gracious Queen.

The two sides appear locked in an impasse. Frost told European commission officials on Friday the UK would not move on its negotiating position until Brussels accepted its main proposals as a basis for the talks.
Johnson’s most senior adviser, Dominic Cummings, has told Conservative aides that the government will not fundamentally change its proposals.
So Johnson's end-game is now clearly to let the European leaders be seen as unreasonable and demanding and have them block the extension he's required to ask for and Brexit just ends up happening.

It appears the real winners from Brexit are political cartoonists.

BBC News - PM calls on EU to 'thrash out' Brexit objections
UK Brexit proposals "very fair" and "generous", says PM
today
Boris Johnson has called on the EU to enter detailed talks to "thrash out" its objections to his latest Brexit proposals.
The prime minister said the UK plans were a "big concession", but European leaders had not offered specific criticism of his ideas.
French President Emmanuel Macron says the EU will decide at the end of the week whether a new deal is possible.
Mr Johnson held further telephone calls with EU counterparts on Monday.
Meanwhile, a Scottish court has dismissed a call for it to issue an order to compel the PM to comply with a law which would force him to seek a Brexit delay.
Under legislation passed by MPs last month - the Benn Act - Mr Johnson must write to the EU requesting a further delay if no deal is signed off by Parliament by 19 October, unless MPs agree to a no-deal Brexit. ...
Boris really is setting this up to fail ...

Boris now claims Thatcher was 'green'. From the Independent.
"Boris Johnson has hailed Margaret Thatcher as a “true feminist, green and revolutionary” who was fighting global warming long before the “nose-ringed, hemp-smelling” Extinction Rebellion "crusties" currently occupying the streets of Westminster."
This is revisionist spin. She did her best to close British coal mines but she wasn't worried about climate change at the time.
Boris goes on to claim Thatcher was trying to unravel the apartheid regime in south africa despite history recording her opposition to sanctions and her description of the ANC as "terrorists".
Next he'll be saying up is down, and night is day.

From the Irish Times, I paraphrase for you:
Graham Norton describes why he left his gig writing for the Telegraph, describing the Telegraph as toxic and as a biased mouthpiece for Boris printing Boris' articles replete with lies and obvious falsehoods that, to Norton, they were too lazy to check.
For example the Telegraph printed an article from Boris in which he said he would solve the 'irish problem' by building a bridge to Ireland from Britain, failing to mention the impossible challenges such an endeavour would face.

I think it's reasonable to say that a No-Deal Brexit would not be good for the large majority either side of the North Sea.
Just wondering what would or might happen if the EU decided to offer an extension (is this even possible?), rather than wait for Boris to (maybe) ask for one?
Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
The Times - Brexit deal near to collapse after Angela Merkel ‘insists Northern Ireland stays in customs union’
today
Donald Tusk accuses PM of playing ‘stupid blame game’
Britain and the European Union are engaged in a public blame game after Brexit talks stood on the brink of collapse after a row between Boris Johnson and Angela Merkel.
No 10 sources said that the German chancellor’s demands for Northern Ireland to stay in a customs union with the EU after Brexit meant that a deal was “essentially impossible, not just now but ever”.
President of the European Council Donald Tusk sent a public tweet to Mr Johnson, telling him "the future of Europe and the UK" was at stake. ...
