Whatever happens this avo, democracy and MMP succeeded. It will be interesting no matter who the new Govt is, as to how it plays out with Winston Peters.
Well I read somewhere that the supposed Chinese curse "May you live in interesting times" was urban myth.
Hope so - that it's interesting but not a curse.
Yes. Things can and will probably happen. Power games perhaps. Im happy with the outcome, whatever it is, but my chief concern is how much Nat or Lab have bid. Id suspect its disproportionate to what we can afford. Thats not just Peters bargain power either. Nat or Lab may outbid to gain power. Whether both have a point that they will flag it as its too much for NZ I dunno. If Nat or Lab did flag it for that reason, the reason still exists for the winning bidder. Thats a worry

Same as today, sunny here in ChCh, and Journo's wearing out keyboards.

I just hope he goes Labour. The sheer entertainment value watching a government with Greens. NZF and Labour will be immense, specially with a leader who has never led anything before.
I think the opposite.
There is a lot of bad blood with National, should they be in Opposition we will see that. He has good friends in Labour. I think the key issue with Greens is Turei is gone, Shaw seems normal. IMHO it will be smoother with Labour and fun to watch with National.
Lets give it a month
I agree, If NZF (not just Winston) go with National, it'll be 1996 all over again. Bill English will most likely be 'rolled' and Paula 'Mad Dog' Bennett becomes the leader/Prime Minister. She'll then do a 'Jenny Shipley' on NZF/Winston before 2020. As Split Enz once said, History repeats...
This but Judith Collins instead of Bennett.
I hope I live long enough to see Winston retire.

I hope I live long enough to see Winston retire.
You will, he has 3 years max. I predict however he will blow the next Government asunder within 2 years
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
I am really concerned this has taken so long. He says he still doesn't know as of an hour ago. Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence it's taken a month to form.
When Winston retires, I suspect there will be no more NZF.
Winston now can't make up his mind eh - eenie meenie minie mo, flip and coin and pick a govt is what the public might hear but hear this:
Jacinda and Bill, common, still waiting to be PM, make me PM and I'll choose you.
Jacinda and Bill: I've offered him 4 wives, 8 burger, 200 nuggets, the palace, the keys to the safe, half the cabinet, all the money, and he still wants more? S#it, shall we give him the PM too? Shall we?
Look guys - they both must have made him a similar offer otherwise he won't be doing this today.
Either both made him bad offers or both gave him the keys to the country.
I am hoping Bill and Jacinda spoke over the first weekend and said - don't give him anything or he'll strip us naked! Here's hoping ...
Although more likely than not, they've both given him their dignity, the clothes on their back, and he still wants more.

If B&J could agree to help each other like that, then there'd be no need to negotiate with Winston at all - as they'd be capable of forming a grand coalition.
Reading what the Media are reporting, my guess is they planning to go with National, Bill English has been told that, but NZF/Winston want more before they 'make the announcement'.
We've heard virtually Nothing from Jacinda/Labour, or the Greens since the secret meetings on Tuesday night because I think Winston has told National and Labour who NZF were going into coalition with unless they both can come up with a better deal to make NZF change it's mind.
And Winston is now saying they may not 'be able' to decide today.
I am sure if Jacinda knew the result, and it wasn't in her Favour, she would be out and attacking Winston for his decision and stealing the Thunder. Likewise with National.
Of course it could be National and Labour who are being the pains in the proverbial.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
