I am worried about Labours continued refusal to acknowledge the validity of the dent they have put into business confidence.

I do think a another Financial Crisis is coming. I am pretty fearful of how this Government will help New Zealand weather the storm.

I had read up on it. Still don't get it - hence my comment. I'm not very familiar with the French legal system but it seems to me they will have to argue a person is too young to consent on a case by case basis. That's a real worry considering some of the cultural contexts within France.

I prefer our approach, which has clear lines in the sand as starting points.

Claims for paid leave under this new legislation may also be for incidents of domestic violence relating to periods prior to the Employee's employment with their current Employer.

IANAL - but I don't think there's much difference between French and NZ law. Rape is considered a more serious offense than having sex under the age of consent - though that could be rape as well - thus a more serious charge. Say if you had a 16YO daughter, and she had sex with a 15YO boy, would you think it was good if she faced say a 15 year minimum sentence for "statutory" rape - or should a court (or prosecutor) exercise discretion on a lesser charge? I don't believe it's a simple argument with a simple answer.

Domestic violence is a big problem in NZ and just to make matters worse we throw finacial hardship at the victims. This sort of measure wont stop violence but will help rehabilitation a lot.
