With all due respect, a lot here is a hate thread. You refer to Trump as hated above, so he is hated back. I take resistance to hatred referring to resistance to Trump.

While I dont disgaree with any of the hundreds of adjectives posted here, more important issues exist. Your recent post on trade, Rikkitics recent on immigration, there will be many more as they come to effect or at least as more details come to light. Will he see out the term, Moslem visas, many, many topics. The topics are very topical, and then the repercussions. I think almost all of us here agree on our opinions of Trump

I live in hope that Mr Trump will moderate his language etc. Like many post election politicians he seems to be taking a bit of time to come down from the hustings hype. Soon the reality and enormity of the task to which he has been entrusted will hit home and he will realise that he

cannot walk across the Pacific and he cannot part the seas.

My main concern about Trump isn't that he won't recant racist/misogynist statements, lies, threats to torture, kill innocent people etc, but that as people gradually lose interest, then resistance falls and acceptance of his agenda grows.

Can we live happily ever after under increasingly draconian authoritarian rule by the elites?

History suggests not - there will be bloodshed.

I think this states it quite well. We can't see into the future, but if we look at the past, there is good reason to fear the forces that could be unleashed by someone like Trump.

Thats where I see it. He can say and "start" to do what he wants (as in the orders he loves to sign), but he is playing with the big boys now, and he is not a big boy. He is out of his league. China isn't happy, Mexico isn't happy. We talk about division in the US, he will divide the US from the globe. Maybe thats not a bad thing. Maybe the GOP will come to the rescue with a new leader in a year or so, who knows. He can't do whatever he wants, either its too hard, or the consequences he has yet to appreciate past his ego..

(Fact is Obama signed less than some previous Presidents).

I think this states it quite well. We can't see into the future, but if we look at the past, there is good reason to fear the forces that could be unleashed by someone like Trump.

I feel this is where you two and I disagree. I don't see an authoritarian elite state and historical bloodshed, nor Trump unleashing forces. Bark is worse than his bite. GOP will reign him in when the globe yawns and can't be a$$ed with him. Trade deals may be common, amongst everyone else. But I don't see the WW3-like argument. He is out of his league, he will get that when he tries to implement his silly ideas.

As you say, we cannot see into the future, but that is my take on it. Over coming months, possible weeks, we will see more of a pattern. His executive orders to me are meaningless, its his action or inaction that will be more meaningful. Such as his jail her, then she has served us wonderfully for 30 years.

I doubt many people here can read German so you will have to explain exactly how that image is related and how it is not leaps and bounds away.

If you fail to do that it's more or less close to godwin violation and following that we could expect the thread to fill up with various images of that nature without any attempt at showing relevance.

Also.. base64 images are a pain to quote. try it sometime. inline links are way easier.

The "weakness" referred to is actually a (metaphorical - hopefully) "call to arms" to fight dirty tyrants like Trump (and his supporters) by using similar dirty tactics - rather than to "go high" (which probably more relevant to this topic, was a failed tactic for Hillary Clinton). Trump's obsession with Obama is often "whataboutism". Trump's the president now - he should be head down / backside up and start behaving like one.

I wish I didn't have to agree with what Manning is saying - but Trump will not be taken down by reasoned rational discussion.

Hitler published lists and photos of Jewish criminals as part of a propaganda technique to (further) turn the German public against Jews.

That Trump appears to be planning on doing similar by collating and making public lists of crimes committed by "aliens" which is ominously comparable.

There is no Godwin violation rule applying in this thread - MF has granted a specific exemption, IMO for very good reason as the comparisons are relevant.
The result has not been the thread filling up with "various images of that nature" - and anyway the image I posted was (very) relevant.
That makes me wonder if the Godwin's rule serves much purpose in this entire site, as where it's allowed it's seemingly not abused, on threads where Godwin's is invoked, it's usually part of an ad hominem attack which itself is against FUG anyway - but that's another topic, it's not my site and I don't make the rules.

Base64 images (pasted to image editor on web browser) don't cause me any issues to edit/quote - perhaps open or join an existing thread in the GZ forum to discuss if there's a problem when posting using mobile devices.
