No, he was generally referring to the suggestions in various areas of the press and body politic that Mexicans be effectively legalised if they are illegal etc and commenting that nobody would suggest such a thing in relation to Canadians.

Canadians of course are generally far too polite to wander into another country - although I met someone in a hostel once who travelled for a month in Canada having walked in over the border in the back country, left the same way and never had any kind of documents for his visit!

Anyone who things anyone (Mexican, US citizen or anyone else) can just wander back and forward across the border is deluded. It's already very, very difficult (not impossible, but the 'easy' crossing spots are well protected). Nearly 90% of those Trump is targeting with his 'wall' arrive on a commercial airline and enter the US legally.

coincidence that the Muslim countries he didnt include in the ban all have business interests  with Trump .

That's an alternative truth of course. By definition they're different, and countries accepting refugees (as opposed to having illegal immigration issues) have vetting processes they use to find out.
