MikeAqua:

It's three ringed circus.

The irony is that the left in the US handed Trump the presidency on a plate.

They forgot that to implement policy in government you first have to win an election, and to do that you need your core voters.

I don't think they "forgot" that at all.  They severely misread the mood and selected the wrong candidate (IMO), but couldn't have been expected to predict that there would be a well coordinated program of interference from (probably) Russia.

If Russia or whoever did interfere with the US elections, I think that's deliciously ironic when you think about all the governments the USA has interfered with and toppled over the decades to prevent commie influence, etc.

Donald ‘Kill Their Families’ Trump Played Into Al Qaeda’s Hands

Some uncertainty whether the Yemen raid was planned during the final days of Obama's regime - or if was a Trump plan.
Doesn't really matter now.
Anyway - this 8YO girl was the daughter of a US Born Al Qaeda terrorist already killed, now she and her brother have been killed.

There's "collateral damage" and probably thousands of pictures like the one above - but this one is special, killed after a POTUS announced he would willingly target and kill the families and children of terrorists was sworn in.

This went on all through the Obama administration Fred, what I want is for Trump to stop the "nation building" like he said he would and I am willing to give him more than a week to do so.

Frankly its disgusting people use the faces of dead children to enhance there political position when they took no stand against the Obama administration for 8 years of tearing apart nations where the streets flow red with the blood of fathers who will never see there family's, sons who will never see there mothers and grandparents who will never see there family line continue.

That is why I want to give Trump a chance sure his climate change policy is horrific and he says alot of stupid **** but what I want is a permanent change from the horrific acts done by Obama, Bush and the those before them from the pointless violence against the innocent.

Well Stan, I think you're being very optimistic.  I expect that Trump - who campaigned on threats to use violence, with the support of Bannon - who's reputed to have some kind of OCD fixation on the military, Trump himself wanting to increase US military spending (from already insane levels) - it's a potential global disaster. Combine that with Trump's complete lack of any diplomatic skill - he's made it clear that he alone is calling the shots - it seems inevitable.

I also don't buy in to the "whataboutism" propaganda about "what Obama did.  While US foreign policy has sucked for > 1/2 century, Obama inherited Bush's disastrous legacy - and Trump did support Bush's invasion of Iraq.

I very strongly believe that you've been taken in by a false prophet.  Time will tell.

If you find that photos of the faces of dead children killed as collateral damage in military action "disgusting" - then perhaps instead of blaming "the left" or "Obama" - think about the future that Trump may well be bringing.

Perhaps those people aren't from "the left" at all - you've clearly missed the point of my post - which is that the people most likely to (mis)use that image for political purposes are the extremists themselves. Trump just handed them a gift - a tool for radicalising new recruits.

Trump's memo for "defeating ISIS" is a joke:

Sec. 1. Policy. It is the policy of the United States that ISIS be defeated.

(i)    Development of a new plan to defeat ISIS (the Plan) shall commence immediately.

(ii)   Within 30 days, a preliminary draft of the Plan to defeat ISIS shall be submitted to the President by the Secretary of Defense.

(iii)  The Plan shall include:

(A)  a comprehensive strategy and plans for the defeat of ISIS;

I thought he had a plan. Apparently not. Also he wants a plan in 30 days. I find it hard to imagine previous Presidents didn't ever thought of asking their defense people to formulate a plan. Perhaps this is Trump's great idea?

He's a joke of a leader.

tdgeek:

Brickbat to Jack Tame for trying to egg Bill English on to a more substantive criticism of Trump's ban. We have no influence or pull. And when we get in a tariff discussion or trade, the last thing we want is issues like that. If the US needed us as much as we need them, then yes, we do have influence, so use it, but we dont.

I agree with you, English was clear in his criticism without being unduly antagonistic about it.

Whilst I tend to agree, from his perspective he has put experts into these roles, then he will choose to take or not take their advice. Watch Rex Tillerson closely, I suspect despite being a rich player who is out to strengthen his fortune (unnecessarily imo) if he gets ignored it will be an internal spat. Same with Madis and whoever it is to re write his healthcare bill. If he doesn't like it it will be like this... "you're fired"

Anyways I'll think some people might like this. http://www.techly.com.au/2017/01/31/some-hero-just-uploaded-trumps-inauguration-speech-to-pornhub/ don't worry that link is safe for work.

I'd have thought that the USA would have learned - they handed out some relatively simple munitions, a few SAMs, and the Mujahideen defeated the might of the of the Soviet Union.  And that was a relatively "clean" war.

Unless they make drones which can actually read human minds, they'll never "defeat" ISIS using military tactics.

Worse, Trump's ideology and methodology has striking resemblance to a caliphate (except I don't believe Trump himself believes in any god) - and I'd wager that Pence and many US nominally christian fundy followers believe every bit as much that there's an  apocalyptic "final showdown" on the way - and welcome it.

Never for a second believed he had a plan. What sold you on that idea?

The Trump presidency gets scarier by the minutes, which is pretty impressive in a horrifying way.

Funny ad by Dove antiperspirants

"Last Sunday, Donald Trump’s senior adviser Kellyanne Conway coined the Orwellian term 'alternative facts' to refer to press secretary Sean Spicer’s false claims about attendance at the president’s inauguration (among other things).

This weekend, one brand responded quickly.

Dove placed a two-page print ad, created by Ogilvy London, in various U.K. newspapers listing several #AlternativeFacts about its new antiperspirant. Included in the list are claims that the product will boost your IQ by 40 points, was first used by Cleopatra and 'can help you remember distant relatives’ names at family gatherings.'

According to the ad, the product also 'is a really good listener,' knows a dude who can get you on the guest list and 'can plan your next holiday at a competitive rate.' It can even improve your wi-fi signal! (If only that were true.)

The second page of the ad contains an image of the product and the message, 'New Dove antiperspirant cares for your skin like never before' along with the hashtag #RealFacts."

Donald Trump cares about three things:

  • Donald Trump
  • Money
  • Donald Trump
  • Power
  • Donald Trump (bigly)

It's got to the stage where I can can officially no longer distinguish between satire and things Trump has actually said. I saw this tweet earlier today and would've sworn it was satire. Apparently not.
