Not saying that this guy wasn't a moron for doing what he did, nor that he didn't say what was quoted, but faced with arrest people are likely to say all kind of dumb things.

My guess is that he probably stole the thing to sell intact - to feed some substance abuse habit.  That wouldn't have made the news though.

So he is a moron, but its perfectly fine for Metiria and the Greens?

Im genuinely curious as to what the greens have to do with this haha. What little joke am i missing?

In a parallel universe there is a parallel thread on GZ about Winston Peters ...

No we know about Turei did some questionable things..but don't really care

I'm more bothered by Barkley, a member of law and order party, refusing to talk to police about criminal activities, not turning up to parliament to face the music like an adult and PM covering for him.

?Gilmore sacked for being a dickhead to a waiter but Barkley might have commited criminal activity, hides from police enquiry, continues to draw salary while effectively in hiding...

This is getting tiresome. It has been funny, but now its a tad tiresome. Many get obsessive in the Trump thread, there is a reason for that.

I will repeat what I posted on another thread, Depending on the type of income she did not declare and after taking into account exemptions and abatement rates she may or may not owe money.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Probably you missed the news... Turei made a speech where she said it was basically OK to commit welfare fraud to feed your baby - and she committed this fraud herself in her earlier years.

And this guy has stolen a trampoline to feed his baby, so one could argue that Turei has endorsed this type of activity.

That's not what she said at all.

If you want to bash her for what she's admitted she did - FFS be honest about it.

As for the moron trampoline thief, it would have been nice if someone in the media had bothered to find out if in fact his night out thieving was to help support dependant children - or (more likely my guess) a lifestyle of expensive substance abuse habits which seems to be behind most petty crime in NZ.

Why are you showing so much aggression? (you do know what FFS means?)

I'm not the only one to think this, eg,  in the Herald editorial...

"Turei has effectively argued that she had a moral right to rip off the system because she had to feed her baby. She is wrong because hardship doesn’t give anyone the right to break the law"

I thought this is what she was getting at. She certainly did not apologise or admit she was wrong.

So, again, why the aggression?  I wasn't trying to offend you .

I know what FFS means and I take what NZ Herald editorial says in context of exactly what they are.

You don't offend me.   People aren't infallible - serious errors of judgement are normal.  Take a breath.  Relax.

Is there no statute of limitation which would make prosecution impossible so long after the fact?
